Have you been wondering what I’ve been up to? The answer is REIGN. As I tweeted back in May, “This show is crack, people. Expect chocolate AND peanut butter ( Read more... )

Interesting. I was wondering whether or not to give this show a try, and now I definitely will. My parents and I need something to fill the niche of The White Queen, which is almost over.

Oh man, I hope the secret about the "flying squad" is that it is a flying squad and actually use some kind of steampunk wing/jetpack contraption to spy!

I am very excited about this show, being an Elizabethan/Tudor-aholic. I have never been a big fan of Mary Queen of Scots (she goes a bit nuts later, in mho), but loved the show! Anything with Megan Follows, my beloved Anne of Green Gables, is A-OK in my book, as well. I went into the Pilot expecting to be smug about all the horrible historical errors, but I really, really liked it, and was able to be MUCH more smug during The Tudors. I didn't even notice that the "four Marys" didn't go by Mary! I knew about them, but didn't notice that because I was totally into the show.

I buy Mary/Francis. Looking forward to watching that develop and shipping (just sad already, since I know how it ends). I also love Catherine de Medici, since reading about her in Jean Plaidy's books. She is awesome, and I think totally misunderstood historically.

The show was also beautiful to look at. I am eagerly looking forward to Thursday for episode 2!

Totally random and out of the blue fangirling: thank you for writing the glorious masterpiece that is "Inquisition"! Catherine is far and away my favorite character on TV right now, and that episode was just such a treat. (In a special, stressful way where I spent the whole first viewing worrying that she'd be randomly executed at any moment. How could French court go on without her magnificent sarcasm??) I especially loved the scenes between Catherine and Henry -- I've been wanting to learn more about their backstory for ages, and it was so beautifully, poignantly revealed.

And then he chopped that dude in half all over her face. Ah, marriage!

Anyway, thank you so much for the Reign-y greatness, and for the episode's insights into such a fine villainess. :) It is my favorite, favorite show on TV.

How can you not love this woman? Embrace her as I do!

Yes! Having marathoned Reign over the past week, this was certainly my take. The trio of Mary, Francis and Catherine makes for a ceaselessly interesting dynamic. There are scenes featuring Catherine - one in the first season comes to mind, perhaps it was in the episode "Left Behind" when she was sitting at a desk, so immersed in the utilization of her "ever evolving" poisons expertise - that actually cause me to laugh out loud in wicked satisfaction. (There's all this focus on Francis becoming his father, but really shouldn't he and Mary both just be striving to achieve a fraction of the fabulousness of his mother? No?). I have to say, if Reign reaches the historical marker point of Francis' death and Mary's return to Scotland, I'll very much miss watching these elements unfold.

What a fun, interesting, and beautiful show.
