well, i'm alive and well in grand Japan, preparing to leave Tokyo after three days of hardcore tourism. i've managed to get us around the city, either or directly or indirectly arriving at our chosen destinations. i've seen Kabuki, women in kimonos, and some of the strangest food i can imagine. and we aren't even out of the city yet. the ( Read more... )

this is what you get when you have a nation that manages to maintain a very low and largely non-violent crime rate...people are nice. especially if you are very polite first. if you meet any old kendo master you might see if they knew of my grandfather, miyasaki sadayoshi. it's a long shot but possible.

and actually there was a company that sent people to scotland for near a decade to learn how to make scotch wiskey. yes, they know good UK style booze.
