Dec 30, 2012 04:11

I decided to keep track of the books I'm reading in 2008 with my own personal "rating". All books on this list I read in its whole. Feel free to check this list often and if you want to strike up a conversation of the books we have in common or to get further thoughts on the ones I have read, I'll be happy to discuss it. Also, if you want to know ( Read more... )

If you enjoy the two books I had sent to you, I think you would. I love Tudor England and the author makes everything very clear while staying true to the history. There aren't just big events that take place in the novel, they have little things in there that kind of all connect together which is pretty cool, you get the full picture. And it has a real sense of human voice and not just cold facts coming from a robot ya know? I liked it a lot, so I think you should check it out if you ever get the chance. :)

Okay =] I'm really enjoying The Other Boleyn Girl so far and I really wish I didn't have to put it down. Over the break I really plan to finish it whilst you're in class haha but I really do enjoy it so I hope to give this one a try. Thanks for the review! =]

I was like that with Boleyn Inheritance so I understand. ;) I pretty much gobble up most Tudor England fiction since it helps me understand the facts. Plus the author of the book I listed is a historian so I know it's accurate except in places she makes note of at the end. She even used her own words in several places so that made it even more true, the writing is good too.

i keep meaning to read Othello
because all my favourite writers reference it - what was it that you did/didn't like about it?

Well compared to other Shakesperian plays I found it to be a bit bland. I mean no one dies until the last act and there's not a lot of action. It wasn't bad by any means since his writing trumps most writing that came before or after, but as far as the story I wasn't a fan. I liked it in the fact that Shakespeare wrote it and I'm probably missing out on something profound within the pages. I've never heard it referenced before actually, what books referred to it?

Can I just say how much I still love The Last Summer of You and Me I think it's easily one of my favorite books.
