I found myself identifying with much of the article on How Facebook Ruins Friendships. triath posted it, and I responded in a comment, but realized this is something I would like to share with the rest of you, my beloved LJ community. Here is my response to the article

I find that FB and twitter are like me, showing up at your door and saying something wierd. Like, "Gee, where did all the green M&Ms go?" And then walking away. I also use them to take notes to myself that I can go back and review

FaceBook is quite handy for pictures. I put them in a folder, and everyone else tags them. So easy.

It's also great for arranging to see people in person. "Oh, so-and-so's in town this week. Let's step out!"

It also has "notes", which seem to me to be just like LJ posts, but without the threaded comments. (Threaded comments are way better!)

I'm a special case, I know. I don't write much on either site. But I love to visit in person, and it sure is handy to have an easy way to share my pictures.

So none of these tools is all things to all people, but some things here and there are good things to some people.

Since email is more convenient for you than instant messages or phonecalls, I'll email you more often. That will be fun.

I think my LJ friends are posting less often because of facebook, and that does make me sad.
