XVI - [Audio - Latin]

[Who said Latin was a dead language? Asthe's using it right now.]

Highness, Abel and Esther. The winter is coming and food is hard to get in this place. If you know of a way to preserve meat I will go hunting after the sun sets.

I will be glad to hunt for you as well. I don't need much to survive.

If it gets cold enough here, it should keep if we wrap it and hang it from an upper-story window. I suppose it could also be salted if we can find enough salt..

It's been a while since I've done this sort of thing, so Abel and Esther might have better suggestions.

I know you're quite capable, but still-- be careful, Asthe.

Well, I think we have vinegar here. We can pickle it, can't we?

There are surprisingly few who know it.

Surprisingly? My dear, this is a "dead language" in most versions of Earth.

I haven't heard someone speak Latin in...a long time. Except when I'm talking to myself, and that's not quite the same, you're only hearing your own voice bounce back at you from the walls and through your skull. Books don't really talk, either.

Where did you learn it?

I've learned several languages that are spoken around my world. Latin is one of them.

Did you pick it up yourself, or from a tutor?
