Bandfic: Arms Around You (Spencer/Brendon. G.)

Jan 09, 2008 16:25

I was in A Mood this morning--actually, I've been in A Mood for most of the week, but today it was worse again--so, since I didn't have to be at work until noon today, I decided to write a completely fluffy ficlet. Because sleepy boys cuddling makes everything better, yes?

Title: Arms Around You
Author: tigs
Pairing: Spencer/Brendon
Rating: G
Disclaimer: Don't know or own.
Summary: It was a good sort of way to wake up in the morning.

Author's Notes: Fluff! Featuring a Brendon of the cuddly nature. ~740 words.

The problem, Spencer realizes, is simple: he is sitting on one couch in the back lounge of the bus and Brendon is sitting on the other. Or, rather, is curled up on the other, feet buried underneath the same blanket that's covering Ryan's lap. It's one of those really soft blankets, the ones that you just can't help but burrow under if it's within five feet of you. Spencer knows; he's using one for a pillow himself, and his own feet are gravitating towards the one that Jon's got draped over his knees.

Any other day, Spencer thinks, and the seating arrangements wouldn't be a problem. Any other day, Ryan would be welcome to Brendon and his tendency to get into tickle fights with whomever he's sitting next to. Or his tendency to dig his toes underneath your thighs. Or maybe lean his head on your shoulder and go to sleep. And in turn, any other day, Spencer would welcome the chance to sit next to Jon: the opportunity to make snide comments in the direction of the TV, softly enough so that Ryan and Brendon couldn't hear, which would drive them up the wall.

Today, though, Spencer woke up in his bunk with Brendon curled up against his side and his fingers spread out across Spencer's stomach, his thumb underneath Spencer's t-shirt, brushing light, warm circles over Spencer's skin. Today, Brendon's breath was gentle against Spencer's neck, not quite even enough for him to be asleep, and when Spencer shifted, turning his head to look at Brendon, he found Brendon watching him, grinning.

It was a good sort of way to wake up in the morning.

But then, *then*, Jon came walking down the aisle of the bus, on his way from the kitchenette to the lounge, but he stopped outside Spencer's bunk and said, "Everyone decent?" even as he was pushing the curtain of the bunk back. "Time to rise and shine, sleepy heads!"

If Spencer had been alone in his bunk, he would have given Jon a sleepy finger. Brendon was already turning over, though, laughing a little at Jon, saying, "Who're you calling 'sleepy heads'? I'll have you know that some of us have been awake for hours!"

There was more to the conversation, of course, but that was the point at which Brendon crawled out of Spencer's bed, and Spencer might have thought about rolling over and going back to sleep, except the bunk suddenly felt too cold, too empty, and when he looked at his watch, he saw Jon was right; it was time for them to be up.

Which is to say: any other day, any day when Spencer couldn’t still feel the press of Brendon against his side if he just closed his eyes, well. It would have been fine. No problem. But today, all Spencer can do is look across the lounge and see Brendon on the other couch, Ryan's hand resting on what is probably Brendon's blanket covered ankle, and Spencer knows that if he waits ten minutes, it'll probably be Brendon's head on Ryan's shoulder, and-

Any other day. But not today.

So, Spencer stands up from the couch, and says, "I, uh, think I'm going to go crash for a little bit." Jon raises an eyebrow, a 'you okay?' look. Ryan just raises a hand in farewell. Brendon says, "You're leaving us, Spencer Smith?" Spencer nods at all of them-a 'yes', an acknowledgement, and an agreement. He takes his blanket with him.

He can still hear the movie, just a bit, from his bunk, but he rolls onto his side, cuddles down underneath his blanket, and drifts for a little bit. It's not long, though, before he hears feet padding in his direction, before the curtain to his bunk is being drawn back. When he looks over his shoulder, he sees Brendon staring in at him, smiling. Brendon doesn't wait for an invitation before crawling into the bunk to join Spencer, before burrowing under *Spencer's* blanket, more so than he did with Ryan's.

"Hi," Brendon says when he's settled, when he's got an arm draped over Spencer's stomach, and his head on Spencer's shoulder. Spencer says, "Hi."

"We were interrupted this morning," Brendon continues.

"Yes, we were," Spencer says.

"I'd say we have at least an hour before the movie's over," Brendon says, squeezing Spencer a little more tightly, and Spencer nods, his cheek rubbing against Brendon's hair. He thinks, good.
