All night flight. I came here on an all night flight. Only a few months ago it was back in the fall, the autumn, yes, I remember it no don’t tell me I was always here haunting this house - these houses - on N Street, these twin brownstones standing side by side from a hundred years before Citizen Kane and ( Read more... )

Something I have been working on recently. Unfortunately, even with our mentor's excellent advice, I will not have time to revise it any more than it already is.

Revisions or not, this was still an excellent piece of stream of consciousness writing, which always demands so much of a reader as well as the author. I hope you keep experimenting with your writing.

Thank you very much. It is a style I have been working with for many years. Some times it works better than other times, and then again sometimes it gets lost in too much demanding of attention from the reader. Very much a two-edged sword.

You seem to be hitting this in all the right places to engage your reader. Perfect blend of subject matter and style.

Have you read any Thomas Wolfe?

You know, I have heard of him, but do not remember reading him. Now I am intrigued. Looking for something to put before me and study. Too bad he died so young.

Damn, this was fascinating. Probably my favorite thing by you so far, with the denial about how long that spirit has been stuck where it is, how time collapses and reality drifts like a dream.

I had this horrible thought of husks of people (eventually skeletons) in the walls of that boarding house, forever doomed to haunt it.

If I'm not mistaken, there is a hint that the youngest baby was a succubus and was to be sent away... but escaped that fate, and doomed all around her.

Dark and dreamy-disconnected and just wonderful.

Definitely a dark piece, you got that right. Glad you enjoyed! Thanks for the reading. Yeah, the child. The family. The house. All of it turning within the mind of the narrator.
