I think we all need to evaluate our lives every couple of years or it's easy to go massively off track - I had a similar thought process a couple of years back and it did me loads of good!
it's difficult to maintain freindships with people who have 'issues' with other friends of yours. I try to take people as they are, and not get involved in other people's batt;es, but it is really hard sometimes. It probably is a good idea to try to rebuild your bridges as it were.
You are certainly firey ;> I was scared and I was on your side!!
I think that this always happens within a social "scene" and even more so where you are cos it's so much smaller. I think you need to widen your social circle, but keep the tribal lot cos they are fab!
This seems to happen all too often on our social scene, hence why I'm pretty much out of it these days. If you think Shirley would be receptive, why don't you send her a card or something and suggest meeting for a coffee or whatever and make the peace? I'd be chuffed if someone I missed and had fallen out with made the effort for me.
I don't think there's any shame in extending the ol' olive branch if you think you misjudged someone in the past. If your other mates get shirty about it, you can tell 'em to just suck it up and deal.
