i dunno, quality of life from 1917 to the present has dramatically improved. popular culture, it seems, has done the opposite. maybe popular culture and quality of life are inverses of one another. it sure seems that way. i'd also say that it's easier to obtain intellectual stimulation at the present. but i know the feeling of wanting to live in an earlier. i, personally, have a fantasy of 1920's europe topped off with gloriously participating in the throes of battle against the plague that was fascism in 1930's spain. fuck you, henry miller and george orwell for your romanticizing the past.

i'd really like to have a conversation with nietzsche, too. him and that mustache. i bet the mustache itself would be able to hold a decent conversation.
