I used to know someone from just outside New Orleans and she made it a point not to have the Louisiana or even the way worse local accent of her suburb... Once she had a few drinks in her, it came out- nails on a chalkboard!
I also had a friend that lived in NYC that insisted I had a midwestern accent... "Did you grow up on a farm?" "NO!"

let's choose some standard (but important) word to pronounce eccentrically. i think i might start saying "deFENSE" instead of "DEfense" :)
