my friend kephalos has a new internet (or, as he calls it "intrawebs") obsession: finding random links to online surveillance cameras. it all starts with
this link, which then gives you a google list of results (you can also do a google search for inurl:"jpg/image.jpg?r=".
my favorite one that we found today was this:
manatee tank camera, which, sadly, has no light, and so cannot be seen at night. but during the day, you will see two lovely manatees swimming about in a sort of swimming pool with a bunch of dead leaves and a pumpkin. so now i have a mystery to solve... where is this manatee cam? i'm assuming it's in the northern hemisphere, because it's autumn there, and that it's on the north american continent, based on the daylight hours aligning pretty well with here. but i have to narrow it down a bit more... anyone wanna play manatee detective with me? i already have a theme song... 'manatees' sung to the tune of the beatle's 'yesterday':
manatees.....
i'm not half the man i used to be....
there's a speedboat running over me,
oh i believe in manatees
suddenly....
i am wondering if the sea can freeze
can't survive beyond a few degrees
it's hard to be... a manateeeeeeeeee.
