Oh man! I was going to ask whether there'd be cereal in there... this entire project is just 100% genius.
I couldn't quite tell from reading the article(s)... what is Gus's relationship to these? Was he in charge of thinking the concepts up, or paying for these to get made, or...?
Gus is in charge of the collecting panels, as he has been for all the Celebrations, and he came up with the concept of custom cereal boxes (since he's a cereal freak) as giveaways. He contacted the company that will supply the boxes. Designing the individual boxes and concepts was a group effort, and the actual graphic design was handed off to a number of artists. The expense was made up by a number of individual sponsors, whom Gus recruited - his box is the Count Dookula.
That is *so* cool. Thanks for taking the time to explain it... I'm generally on the consumer/recipient end of nifty give-aways, so I have no idea how most of them work.
