A response to the criticism of "Goodbye"

I found this post on tumblr and I thought it was actually a really good summary of how bad the Internet "fan"base is at keeping track of the actual narrative and how good it is at twisting a story beyond recognition in the name of social justice. I don't really care to put this on tumblr where no one will care, so here goes:

This is what happens when people take political concepts--"marginalization" and "agency"--and use them to complain about the basic ways stories work. It's really genuinely problematic, because in order for the arguments to work, you have to ignore not only how stories work, but also what stories are actually being told. You, the viewer, have to take away Rachel's canonical agency, using standards NO ONE would apply in the real world, or any other fictional world, or even feminist theory texts, so that this can be complained about. It makes zero sense. It's incoherent ( ... )

Do like these people never need a push in the back? wtf :/

p.s.
DEAR FANDOM WHEN TINA HAS A PLOTLINE IN AN EPISODE CALLED PROPS, then the writers are probably very aware of how they've used her as a character.

and one-liners and the goddamn lyrics don't count as character development.

:D

It mostly seems that this reviewer thinks Will is an author-avatar for Glee, which is...very much not the case.
