omg I love you for tagging this you gotta let it out

things:
- only child may seem simple, but thematically it adds up with the ND-as-a-family note Season 2 ends with.

- although we never hear them, Kurt writes his own songs for the musical he's working on
- just like April
- also, my cup (which mirrors trouty mouth - except trouty mouth is a song that's secretly about vagina, and my cup sounds sexual but honestly isn't.)

I think, personally, that Original Songs need a hell of a lot of magic to work. All of them are written in like zero seconds, but they're also written by kids who have no experience in songwriting whatsoever - theoretically they wouldn't be able to pull this off.

But think about it, for nationals they performed songs they actually... you know... practiced beforehand. They're going off in the real world, which will probably kill their magic. (Just like Jesse being a real boy killed his soulless automaton approach to life ( ... )

Oh, that makes sense! :)
I just realized Original Song begins with Rachel singing Only Child and ends with everyone embracing her. Aww.

Well, April won (unless she comes back in a later season and hits bottom again, but I doubt it) and Kurt was one of the first kids that we were told made it out of Lima, so that works.

April is like Rachel, her original songs are about her life. Kurt is all about building a story and weaving dreams, but in this case he's basing the lyrics off somebody else's life, sort of like how he orchestrated the Willy Wonka funeral for Jean.

- also, my cup (which mirrors trouty mouth - except trouty mouth is a song that's secretly about vagina, and my cup sounds sexual but honestly isn't.)...I never realized that about Trouty Mouth. It is now EVEN MORE HILARIOUS ( ... )

For Jesse: the thing isn't so much that Vocal Adrenaline is bad magic, it's that it's hell. And Bohemian Rhapsody is the moment where he comes to life.

Although I'm not sure if graduating would kill their magic either: as there are some adults who seem to have some. But on the other hand... They're doing best when they can win without it.

(Oh and with Nationals I meant S03 Nationals, not S02, because yeah there's totally magic going on in that one)

As for Kurt's NYADA audition: I disagree! He... He literally explains why the girls are here, his costume change is an actual costume change rather than just him in a different outfit- which is what would usually happen in dreamsequences. It's all extremely unmagical, and that's exactly why it's so powerful. (It's similar to Rachel explaining the snow during the Christmas Ep of S02 where she's without magic) Kurt does everything by magic, and the moment he wins is one without, making it even stronger ( ... )
