The other day I bought three domain names.
www.emil33t.com
www.emilytopia.com
www.beftpeaproductions.com (the name of my future productions company)
Today a woman from godaddy.com (the site which I registered the names through) called to see if she could answer any technical questions for me.
"So, can I help you figure anything out about the new websites you're setting up?"
"Well, I just really want to put a webcam up, but I'm not sure how to do that."
"Yeah, I don't think you'll be able to using the economy package, but if you upgrade to our dedicated server then you could do it. May I ask if this is for a business or just personal use?"
"Well...um... personal, for now. Hopefully business some day." (I was referring to the beftpea domain...but it just makes me sound like a porn star hopeful)
"Oh, I was just asking because the dedicated server costs a lot and is more suited towards businesses or professionals. Another way to go would be creating short movies of your... work... and then linking them on the website. You could do that with a shared hosting plan for much less."
"Hm, yeah I thought about that, but I'd really like people to be able to see me live."
"Oh, right, well that's understandable. I would suggest then that if you do get the dedicated server, you sign up for a full year because it will save you money in the long run."
"That's a good idea. It's just pretty expensive so I guess I'll just have to save up!"
"Well, webcams are definitely a good tool for attracting traffic to your site. They can really help out certain businesses."
"Yeah... well, I'll keep looking into it. Thanks! Bye!"
"Bye! And good luck in your business."
Aw, I'm a determined little porn star.
