I think I already mentioned the German History Museum is one of the best museums I ever visited? I've been saying this to everyone going to Berlin, so I'm a bit confused on who I've told and who I haven't told. :D Either way, the Deutsches Historisches Museum (it's on Unter den Linden) is completely awesome and a mustsee. There's also a Filmmuseum that's really cool. It mostly focuses on the heydays of German filmmaking (the 20s & 30s), but even if you're not so into that, it's still a really cool museum. It's on the Potsdamer Str. Potsdam itself is really cool too, and it's not that far away from Berlin actually, I think it was half an hour on the train? It depends on where in the city you're staying of course, as it's a huge city! There are quite a few relatively cheap places to stay in Charlottenburg, which is also a nice area, so I could recommend that. There's also a humongous bookstore/souvenir shop on Unter den Linden where you can buy lots of cool souvenirs (really cool, not tacky ones!), and they have every book anyone ever ( ... )

wow!thanks for all the great tips! i wouldn't have gone to the history museum, but now i know i must! we are really just there for 3.5 days, and want to check out quite a lot of museums, so i don't know if we'll make it to Potsdam, as i know i'd want to spend the whole day there - looks like such a cool place! but yeah, we have so many things on our list of what to do and see, so i'm sure we'll have to come back to see the rest of our "must-see" things another time (and go to potsdam!). :)

do you know - how long does it take to get around from charlottenburg to the main centre, like say around unter den linden? i don' t want to spend too much time on the metro every morning if i stay in that area to get to some sites/museums/shopping?

That depends entirely on whether you'd have to switch stations anywhere! Berlin has quite a few different metro lines, but if you'd never have to switch, it'd probably take you 10-15 minutes from Charlottenburg to Unter den Linden. If you have to switch it takes longer, obviously. :D Still, the metro is pretty good and gets you places quickly, which is great as it's such a spread out city.

I've never been in Berlin, but it seems like a popular place to visit these days so I'm sure you'll find lots of things to do.
I'm sorry to hear work has been stressful. It's annoying when you don't particularly like your coworkers much isn't it?

yeah, definitely! i think the main one i hate might leave as she didn't turn up a few days ago and never called either. how rude, really!

yes, it seems like i have more than enough to do in berlin - too much for the few days i have there, really!
