... is not having to say the Creed. What a load of old cobblers that thing is.

Funny that... igniprimum May 18 2003, 12:50:36 UTC
I was thinking one of the best things about being a Deacon is having the opportunity to lead the People in recitation of the Creed...

Could just be essay decompression though.

Cobblers? I don't see any reference to shoe makers in the Creed. Are we reading the same ritual?

:D

"Load of old cobblers" is derived from "cobbler's awls," English rhyming slang for "balls." So you see it is germane to the Mass...

I'd gladly take two creeds over one anthem any day.

O cobbler! mend me this shoe, that I may walk. O king! if I be thy son, let us
speak of the Embassy to the King thy Brother.

I have never told anyone this before, but I have always secretly thought that "wonder tree" is the superhero of all trees. When no one is looking, it can fly through the air, and routinely saves small children from evil villains. By day, it just looks like a tree. You never know which tree might really be a wonder tree.

Gnarled oak of God! In thy branches is the lightning nested.

But that's the Anthem. I actually quite like the Priest part of the anthem, barring the eye-rhyme. It's the audience participation section where it falls apart....
