Once again, many pictures are below the cut. More pictures and high resolution sizes can be found at
my Flickr page.
The hills outside of San Francisco are beautiful. They almost have a Zen quality to them. It's a bit hard to see that in photos taken from the back seat of a moving car, but I did my best.
You go over a couple of bridges on the way. This is the Carquinez Bridge.
Our first views of the bay
Once we got into SF, I put away the camera for a bit to navigate our way to the Golden Gate Park.
We didn't get to leave for San Francisco until around noon, so we got there around 2 in the afternoon. Our first stop was in Golden Gate Park (which is not that close to the bridge) which has museums and the Japanese Tea Garden. I highly recommend looking at some of these pictures in high res. The other couple in some of the shots are the couple we're staying with in Sacramento.

Mount Sutro is one of the higher peaks in San Francisco. A good number of the TV, radio and cell antennas are on it. It's all residential except for the peak.

Market Street is pretty visible from this one
San Francisco is windy.
Lombard is the curviest street in the world. Bill Cosby once said of Lombard Street, "They built a street up there called Lombard Street that goes straight down, and they're not satisfied with you killing yourself that way-they put grooves and curves and everything in it, and they put flowers there where they've buried the people that have killed themselves. Lombard Street, wonderful street."
A funny street name
We stayed at The Mosser, which was in the financial district, in SoMa. It was small, but clean and pretty stylish.
I think that's a good stopping point, as that was one day's worth of photos. Lauren and I went on a walking tour the next day, and those shots can go into one post.
