“Frankenstein said that the way I was born makes me a monster, but what I was orn from makes me a ghost. I’m a hybrid. That essence is what keeps me together, supported by voices.” He can’t remember the details too well- it has been a long time since Anton and he went to see the Doctor the first time.

He frowns. "What qualities of a ghost do you have?" he asks.

{That's cool. BTW, Caliban is asking him these questions so he can better formulate his training.}

Sullivan opens his mouth to speak, then stops suddenly, because he is not certain of the answer to his question. “I’m not sure, sir. All I know is that I’m made from negative energy that has been given a tangible form, and that energy is what makes up the ghost part of me, I think. If I don’t eat the energy of voices, the stuff I'm made from, I’ll dissolve into nothing.” A shiver runs up his spine at the memory of melting and being unable to stop it.

(Thought it might be something like that. I actually had to go back to the first book and read up on this, because I don't remember it clearly.)

He nods. "Did you have a plan for eating while you are here?" he asks. Frankenstein had mentioned Zoë being a reasonable option, but Caliban would prefer not to put him in harm's way if at all possible. He knows the boy doesn't always have the best self control.

{I think that was right; it's what I remember, anyway.}

“I’ve brought a supply of bottled voices, but I only had a week’s notice to get hold of them, and there were only so many voices I could steal without getting attacked. The more exhausted I am, the more often I have to feed- they won’t last for more than a week or two.”

He looks down at the plate of mostly untouched food before him; he is not comfortable with what he is asking of Caliban, not after what he did to Anton. Withdrawal tosses all self restraint out the window.
