Dec 28, 2010 14:20

We saw so many movies this week - Black Swan, The Fighter, part of The Tourist (until I couldn't deal with the cheez anymore), True Grit, Dogtooth, Mystic River.

True Grit and The Fighter were good.

Anyway, time for a new list. Movies I want to see:
  • Humbolt County
  • Man on a Wire
  • Capote
  • Slumdog Millionaire
  • Marwencol

What did you think of Black Swan? I noticed you didn't mention that it was good...

I haven't seen it, but was just curious cuz it's on my "someday" list :)

I really didn't like the female characters in it. They were weak, whiney, competitive, catty, etc., and while I understood that these traits contributed to the main character's neurosis, the film really made me want to go hang out with some dudes.

And-Oh-My-God-If-One-More-Chick-Starts-Crying-I'm-Gonna-Puke.

I think it could have been a beautiful, chilling film. It just missed.

Others might disagree.

Now that young girl in True Grit - she's the totally opposite of the ballerinas. And "Bad Blake" playing Rooster Cogburn was fantastic. (Did you ever see Crazy Heart?)

Your review of Black Swan made me chuckle. Thanks for that ;)

And no, I never did see Crazy Heart. Are you referring to the one with Jeff Bridges in it? Is it one for my "list"????

I laugh about the mention of your lists cuz I'm a compulsive list maker too. I have been on and off working on a little commentary about my new itouch gadget and I had just wrote about how its notepad app has helped to eliminate all those pesky post-it notes I have all over my computer desk and room :)

I liked Crazy Heart, but the Mr LOVED it. Yes, it has Jeff Bridges. I'm not really sure what kind of movies you like. It was border-line chick-flick to me, but the dudes don't like it when I say that. :)

I lost my main movie list - it had some Native American Indian movies that I wanted to see. Arg! I hope to find it soon.

When are you posting your iTouch commentary? It has a notepad app? I've been using cozi.com but for ongoing lists, I like being able to click my LJ "watch list" tag and boom, there are most of my lists!

Well I finshed up my little itouch entry... it's kind of cheesy and lame, but at least you can see my first impressions. I don't know why, but I really hope you do get one too! I'd be interesting in reading about what apps you discover and stuff.

This the the review I went back to time and time again when I was first obsessing over getting one. It's far more comprehensive and professional sounding ;)

Hey, you added some more...

I thought Pi was amazing. Very intense. I bought the dvd even.

It's one of those movies that make you feel like someone beat the hell out of you by the end though. Then again, everything I've seen from Darren Aronofsky does that to me.
