"Pasture"

I fertilized the south 1/3 of the pastures with Nature's Guide Natural Turf Food. I've never heard of this brand before, but it has poultry manure (pasturized), hummus, molasses, myrrohizol (??) fungus, and something else. It's a fast and slow acting, so it will help give a little jump start on that grass. From here on out, I hope to use ( Read more... )

I'm in full garden mode too. Today I'll be building a deluxe tomato row cover. We've only planned it out on paper - today I'll see if it works in real life. I'll be posting pics on Facebook.

One of my neighbors is building a "walkin" garden so that squirrels and dogs stay out. I'm trying to get her to send me links to her plans.

I'd love to see what you do!

Ooo very exciting. And quite the variety you got there.

400lbs of fertilzer? Take that gym trainer man. Flex those muscles.

I confess I'm curious... what exactly do you do with the milkweed to turn it into gifts? It grows wild here, and I like the plant because my monarch butterflies and bees like them. Is there another purpose/use for the plant? Inquiring minds wanna know!

I love milkweed, and I love to sit and hear the caterpillars munch on it. However, I've been told the tropical variety is quite toxic to horses, so I just grow them and give them away.

I need to investigate the toxic thing. I really miss having it at my house.

What do the people you give it to, do with it?

Sheesh - I "answered" your post but not your question. Sorry!

They plant it, or leave it in a pot. During the caterpillar season, the caterpillars munch it down to sticks.

It doesn't look like any of my milkweed seeds are germinating, though. Maybe I need to vernalize them? http://www.monarchwatch.org/milkweed/prop.htm
