Updates on plant identification

The tree we thought looked like a birch is a mulberry, of all things! (I think, anyway.) I wonder I can eat the berries, and I wonder if the horse will eat too many berries and give himself an upset stomach.

I also think I have a pomegranate tree. There are also two trees that are growing in the same spot as the pom, so I'll probably be cutting ( Read more... )

Mulberries are delicous. We have at least 13 of them in our woods... The chickes eat the fallen berries and they attract wild turkeys too. I enjoy just eating them or putting them on vanilla ice cream. My man person made some jam about of them one year too. I think it would be neat to learn how to make mulberry wine too.

I'm REALLY jealous about the pomegranate tree. How cool is that?

They are yummy!

How was the jam? Was that a lot of work?

How do you harvest the berries?

The chooks (the hens, Zyqad and Bertha) found the berries and it was gorge time.

Don't be too jealous - the pom is surrounded by poison ivy.... :)
