OOC - Warning Label for Jack Harkness. :)

Hey guys!

I just wanted to give a quick sort of OOC run down on your friendly neighborhood Captain Jack Harkness as I'm going to approach him in Milieux.

I will now LJ cut since there will be spoilers for Torchwood Season One in this explination. :)

Captain Jack Harkness:

As you have all probably already noticed, Captain Jack is a flirt. This comes from his canon where it's explained that he is a man of the 51st century, a time in which sexual boundries have been broken down and one's sexuality is much more fluid than it is back in the 21st century. Jack is often described as omnisexual as he hasn't met a sex or a species he
doesn't like.

Jack will flirt, it's just his way and he is genuine in his flirting. He's not always just trying to get something from your character or trying to work an angle, he's just a very friendly extrovert. Now, if being a friendly extrovert means that he can keep people at arms length when it comes to his own demons, well ... added benefit that.

Jack will definitely have casual sex with characters. This is by no means a wham bam thank you ma'am (man) situation. He tends to genuinely like and care to be on good terms with the people he goes to bed with. He's not doing it just to get his own gratification, for Jack it's sort of like ... sharing a backrub or a good dinner, something to be done with someone who's company you enjoy but not serious.

On the flip side, just because Jack had sex with a character, this does not make them BFFOMG. Jack will be friends of course but access to his bed doesn't mean access to his life. The other side of the coin is just because your character isn't bed hopping with him doesn't mean that he won't develope a deep friendship with them that will allow them in past his natural
barriers.

The important thing to remember is that Jack is not looking for his one twu luv. He doesn't work that way, he finds the idea of monogamy a bit amusing and in canon tends to tease his team when they talk in terms of 'boyfriend' and 'girlfriend'.

This does not mean he's being snooty towards people who do have and enjoy such relationships, he actually will respect those boundries (he's not around to be a homewrecker) but they are definitions that don't really mean much for Jack personally.

So basically just because he's sleeping with one character, it isn't going to stop him from cheerfully sleeping with another character if the opportunity arises.

That all said ...

Jack and Ianto:

Also canon is the relationship between Jack and Ianto. Yes my fandom has canon slash and I squee happilly about this but least I digress.

Jack and Ianto's sexual relationship is intact as I brought them into the game. It is very much the way their canon relationship is progressed to this point, meaning it's a very private thing just between the two of them and not advertised out in the open.

This does not keep Jack from pursuing his casual sexual flings nor does it mean that Jack won't have close personal friendships with other characters but if you do want to have your character get involved with Jack it's important to remember that they're already going to be sharing him with Ianto.

Ianto is not likely to be jealous of your character because of their relationship with Jack. After all, Ianto is a big boy and went into this situation with Jack with his eyes open. While Jack wouldn't care if Ianto were to take another lover (or two or three) Ianto isn't quite as shall we say progressive as Jack and well Jack Harkness and Torchwood is enough to keep anyone busy!

Okay so that's a quick run down of the two boys. I just wanted to try to be clear up front so there are no expectations with Jack and to say that neither he nor I are out here to break hearts.

Are there any questions?
