69 Memory Lane - Monday

As soon as Ianto had gotten done laughing at Jack for falling out of a tree he'd helped the older man get out of his clothes and into a hot shower. Jack's back had looked like some sort of goth patchwork quilt with his black and blue marks and Ianto had merely rolled his eyes and shoved the older man towards a fluffy towel when Jack had tried to ( Read more... )

Thelma knocked on the door, having a bag of crisps in one hand.

It was Ianto who opened the door, the young Welshman's expression a bit bemused for a moment as at first he didn't see anyone standing there and then saw the bag of crisps floating in mid air.

Arching an eyebrow he stood back and held the door for Thelma.

"In through to the study, miss." He said properly.

"Someone's gotten used to me," she said, smiling. She walked in and headed towards the study.

"Got any good news for me?" she said.

Jack looked up from where he was leaning back in his chair, resting against a pillow and reading reports.

"Hey there," he said by way of a greeting. "Nothing definitive yet but my tech person was able to alter a weather tracking program to look for unusual weather patterns and Dean Winchester is working on some research as well as keeping an eye on the program."

Pausing, he arched his eyebrows.

"How are you doing?"

Marie was off duty today and, as such, decided to visit Jack.

She knocked on the front door.

Ianto answered the door, properly dressed in a three piece suit and if he was surprised he didn't show it.

He had a good face for that.

"Good day, Deputy Wilson."

"Hello, Mr. Jones," Marie replied, smiling pleasantly. "Is this a bad time for a visit?"

"Not at all," Ianto said with a smile that while reserved somehow managed to be warm. "Come on in and I'll announce you."

He knew Jack would have seen Marie on the CCTV and discreetly stashed anything alien like off his desk, so Ianto merely took his time leading Marie down to the double doors that lead into Jack's study.

It was perhaps a surprisingly bright room, the walls done in creams and a long bank of floor to ceiling French doors that spilled out into the back yard of the big house. There was a definite masculine touch in the dark leather of the furniture and the dark woods of the bookcases and desk that lined the rest of the room. A definite 1940's sensibility in the deep wingbacked chairs that sat by the fire and the large leather couch that ran up along one side of the desk.

Jack was behind said desk, though he stood and was making his way around it, the pillow still perched in the chair.

"Marie!" He greeted her with a warm smile. "This is a lovely surprise."

Aziraphale had watched the news last night, and although he knew Jack was capable of recovering quickly from his injuries, the angel still felt compelled to stop and check on him.

Also, he may have been feeling a bit mischievous, and inclined to a little teasing as well.

So he made his way down to Memory Lane, and rapped politely at the door.

It was answered by Ianto, who had been showing a hint of remorse for the teasing he'd given Jack last night by playing doorman today.

Okay, maybe it was also because Jack could pout like a big baby.

"Good day, Mr. Aziraphale."

"Hello, Mr Jones," Aziraphale replied, with a warm smile. "I heard Captain Harkness had a bit of an accident yesterday, and I thought I'd stop by to check in on him."

There was a glint in the angel's eyes as he spoke, suggesting Ianto would probably not be the only recipient of a Jack-pout today.

"I think that's a lovely idea, Sir." Ianto agreed and his pale eyes twinkled with a hint of answering mischief as he turned and began to walk down the hallway.

"He's in the study. I'll get tea."

Jack was definitely in the study, busy covering up all his sensitive papers and attempting to look pathetic.

...

He really was only going to succeed with one of those.

Sam, for no particular reason, decided it might be a good day to pay his, er, employer a visit. Good workplace relations and all that.

And if he looked at all tired and -- ahem -- bruised from his weekend, at least he looked very happy about it.

Damn it, if only Jack had that excuse.

It wasn't Jack who answered the door but rather a handsome young man in a three piece suit and a polite -in an English butler sorta way- smile.

"Hello, Mr. Anders. Won't you come in?"

"Ianto," Sam said with a nod and half-smile as he stepped in. "How's it going today?"

"Quite well, Mr. Anders." Ianto responded, closing the door.

"I imagine you're here to see the Captain? He's on through in the study if you'd like to show yourself in. May I get you something to drink?"

At some point during the day, a package is delivered to 69 Memory Lane.

There's a note attached:

Teeter-Totter Guy,

One pair of red Armani pumps. No cheating and gluing treads to the bottoms.

Later,

U.L.

Ianto delivered the box with a bemused look on his face, one that Jack shared till he opened the note.

Then, he laughed cheerfully and rubbed his hands together with glee!

This? Was going to be fun.
