So many thoughts and such a cloudy mind to put them all into words...

First of all, I think Jon did a wonderful hosting job, and screw the negative reviews. I was a little apprehensive at first, but he did not disappoint. The man is brilliant.

Secondly, the fact that Crash won best feature instead of Brokeback Mountain was totally disheartening

I agree with everything you said. I think the Academy was too chicken to give the Best Picture to Brokeback Mountain, and that sucks. I loved Crash, but Brokeback was way better.

And It's hard out here for a pimp? Holy shit. No, the song from Crash should have won, it's beautiful.

The whole evening just felt... wrong for some reason. Except for Jon (amazingly enough), the mood seemed so politically charged it was disturbing.

I totally think "It's Hard Out Here For a Pimp" deserved the award because the scene in Hustle & Flow featuring it was so pivotal and resonant. I base my song judgments on how the song related to the movie, not just the song on its own.

Crash on the other hand? NOT the best movie of the year, in my opinion. I would have been happy with any of the other nominees winning. Crash was good but I thought it tried to hard.
