Really trying to finally finish this fanfic100 thing I started back in 2009!

Title: Love is Blind
Fandom: RPS
Characters: Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki
Prompt: 020. Colourless.
fanfic100 table: here
Word Count: 306
Rating: PG
Warnings: Schmoop.
Summary: Jared realizes what makes Jensen his soulmate.

What strikes Jared is that Jensen appeals to him in ways that nobody else ever has. There have been moments with other people, moments like the ones in movies, when he’s woken up to sunlight falling over the person he’s lying next to, and he’s taken aback by how stunning they are when illuminated like that, sleeping peacefully in the quiet of the morning.

With Jensen, it’s both simpler and more complex. Maybe complex is the wrong word, Jared thinks. It’s deeper. There are times with Jensen, times like now, when Jared wakes in the middle of the night, and he can barely see his hand in front of his face. There isn’t much light, and there isn’t much definition to anything. The room is almost colourless. But all it takes is that barely-there visual, just the line of Jensen’s shoulder peeking out over the sheets, and Jared’s breath catches in his throat. Jensen has his attention without even trying, without even being seen. All it takes is Jensen’s presence to remind Jared how lucky he is to have this.

He doesn’t need a revelatory moment of staring at an angelic, sun-kissed face in the beautiful light of the morning to know that this is where he belongs; that this is the person he’s meant to spend the rest of his life with.

Jared spoons up behind Jensen, pulling him close and smirking when Jensen grunts. It’s not an unhappy sound, and they’ve slept close together plenty of times, but Jared knows that he’ll probably be pushed away later, once his body heat gets to be too much. He also knows that won’t stop Jensen from moving back towards him in the early hours of the morning, once he’s cooled off and needs to be warmed again. And Jared will be there every time.
