Warnings: Fighting and schmoop.
Summary: Jensen has the Lasik surgery done behind Jared's back. A huge bitchfight ensues until Jason Manns steps in at Asylum 3. ...Clearly, I'm on crack.
Disclaimer: This is so not real in any way, shape or form.
Author's Notes: I had this vague idea for J2 to have this fight over Jensen having the surgery done for the sight prompt. It's been a bitch to write, and wouldn't come out right for the longest time. I'm still not really sure it has, and I think it might be too dramatic/cheesy, but here it is! I also don't really think anything was wrong between J2 at the Asylum con, and I have nothing against the girls, or anybody else mentioned in the fic. Everything mentioned here is strictly for fic purposes! And for some rason, I Just couldn't resist the last scene. :P

Jensen stood on the golf green, watching Jared set up for his swing. He adjusted his glasses. He’d been wearing them more lately, plans already brewing in the back of his mind. He hadn’t told anybody yet, but he was already leaning towards a positive decision. If he was honest with himself, it was something that he’d wanted to do for a long time. He thought of it then, wondering how everybody would react when he told them.

“I’m thinking about Lasik,” he found himself saying, Jared in mid-swing.

Jared froze and then spun around to face him, suddenly forgetting all about the game they were playing. He stared at Jensen in surprise, golf club lowered to the ground.

“What?”

“I’m thinking about having the Lasik surgery done,” Jensen repeated, moving closer to Jared now that he wasn’t in danger of being bludgeoned by a golf club. “I’ve been thinking about it a lot lately, and I’ve looked into it. I think it’s a good idea.”

“Well, this is the first I’ve heard of it. What made you think of this?”

“Dude,” Jensen raised an eyebrow and pointed at his glasses, “In case you haven’t noticed, my vision sucks.”

“But you’ve been fine this far,” Jared argued. “Hell, I’d take glasses or contacts over surgery any day.”

“It’s not that big a deal, Jared.” Jensen stepped back, gesturing towards Jared’s club, the ball, silently telling him to get on with it. But Jared didn’t budge.

“Of course it’s a big deal,” he insisted. “It’s surgery…to correct yourself. You don’t need correcting.”

“That’s sweet, Jared,” Jensen said, smirking. “But that whole, ‘You’re perfect the way God made you’ speech is more along my mama’s lines than yours.”

“It’s not just that, Jensen.” Jared dropped the golf club completely and stepped forward. “There are side effects…complications.”

“Yeah, I know,” Jensen sighed, exasperated. “I’ve looked ‘em up, Jared. I know what I’m doing.”

“Man, I don’t think this is a good idea,” Jared said, voice pleading. “I mean, what if something goes wrong? We’re talking about your eyes here, Jen. And during the break? If something goes wrong, and then we have to go back to work…”

“I know,” Jensen said, cutting him off. He couldn’t help but feel annoyed at Jared’s reaction, even if it was just legitimate care and concern. “Look, I’m not an idiot. I’ve looked this stuff up.” Jared stepped back, affronted.

“I never said you were. Look, maybe you should just wait on this.” Jensen rolled his eyes, and Jared held his hands up. “Hey, I’m not trying to tell you what to do, alright? I’m just saying that maybe you should rethink this.”

“Yeah.” Jensen walked over to Jared’s forgotten golf club and bent to pick it up, handing it to him. “How ‘bout we finish this game before next week?”

****

Jensen stood outside the hospital, grabbing for the vibrating phone in his pocket. He lifted it out, saw Jared’s name on the caller ID, and cursed under his breath. He waved his parents off when they threw him questioning glances and lifted the phone to his ear, answering it quietly.

“Hey, Jared, what’s up?”

“Not much. What’s going on with you? Anything exciting?”

“No,” Jensen lied, staring up at the sign above the hospital doors. “No, just catching up with everybody, you know?” There was a moment of silence before Jared spoke again.

“I miss you.”

“Jared,” Jensen swallowed, shoving down the guilt that was beginning to build up and forcing out a laugh, “You see me practically every second of the day for nine months out of the year. I figured you’d enjoy this break.”

“I still miss you. I know it’s crazy, and even people who’ve been married for years get sick of each other if they see each other too much in a week. But I can’t help it.”

“I miss you, too,” Jensen said, finding himself wishing he had Jared there with him at the moment. “But the convention will be here before you know it, and Jay?”

“Yeah?” Jensen looked up at the hospital sign again.

“I’m gonna have a surprise for you.”

****

Jensen waited for Jared in his hotel room, sitting on the edge of the bed and fidgeting in nervous anticipation. They hadn’t seen each other in over a month, now, and while Jared thought that was just so they’d each have quality time with their families, Jensen had had other ideas. He’d even escaped to Europe early when Jared’s inquiries had increased, telling him he wanted to scout out places for them to see together later. It wasn’t as if he didn’t do that. What he’d said was at least half true.

He stood and made his way into the bathroom, flicking the light on and looking in the mirror. He frowned, cursing his eye for not healing sooner, that one tiny spot of blood enough to give him away as soon as Jared saw him. It took away that added luxury of being able to jump up and shout “Surprise!” later, after they’d already spent time together without Jared even realizing that he wasn’t wearing his contacts or glasses. His stomach churned a bit, wondering if this surprise was going to be good or bad.

A knock came on his room door, and Jensen jumped a little, staring at himself for a few more seconds in the bathroom mirror before turning the light out and heading for the door. He paused in front of it, hand on the knob, and another knock sounded from the other side. He closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and opened the door, smiling at the welcome sight of Jared in his doorway.

“Hey!” Jared greeted, grinning widely. “It’s about damn time…”

Jared trailed off, the grin falling off his face quicker than it had appeared, and Jensen couldn’t keep the guilt from creeping into his expression, lowering his head to look down at the floor. Jared’s hands were on him in an instant, cupping his face and lifting his head back up, staring intently.

“Jensen,” he whispered, pushing at Jensen a little so that they could both squeeze into the room and shutting the door after wheeling his luggage in. “Jensen, when did you do this?”

“A few weeks ago,” Jensen answered, shrugging his shoulders and offering Jared a hopeful smile. “Surprise?” He didn’t get a smile in return, and he had to look away from the sudden hurt in Jared’s eyes.

“So you just went and had surgery, and you didn’t even tell me?”

“Jared…”

“You lied to me,” Jared said quietly, looking as betrayed as he sounded. “Nothing exciting happening, right?” He stepped forward, and Jensen could see the anger in his stride. “‘Just catching up with everybody,’ right, Jensen? ‘Just going to Europe early to see where we can go later.’”

“Jared,” Jensen started again, trying to keep himself calm, “I wanted to surprise you.”

“That’s bullshit!” Jared snapped, voice rising. “That’s bullshit, and you know it, Jensen. What, you think you can go and do something this fucking huge and then just stand here and say ‘surprise,’ and it’ll all be okay?”

“Oh, fuck you, Jared,” Jensen snapped back, his own blood boiling at Jared’s flaring temper. “You’ve been making this out to be more than it really is from the get-go.”

“From the get-go??” Jared laughed incredulously. “You talked to me about it once Jensen, and you’d apparently already made your mind up by then!” Jensen shook his head, laughing himself.

“What, like I need your permission?”

“No, you don’t need my permission, asshole, but you could fucking be honest with me!” Jared said, kicking at the suitcase he’d left on the floor and running a hand through his hair. “Instead, you fucking lie about it and run off to another goddamn country like a pussy, just so you can hide from me!”

“Jared, you better shut the fuck up before I start throwing punches,” Jensen threatened, bristling and stepping up into Jared’s space. Jared tensed for a moment, looking ready to challenge him, and then he turned away, grabbing his bags.

“Don’t worry about it.” Jared headed for the door, and Jensen felt his heart sink beneath his frustration.

“Where are you going?”

“To my room. I’m leaving my luggage there. We get separate rooms for a reason, right?”

Before Jensen could protest, Jared was gone, out the door, slamming it behind him. He stood for a moment, staring at the closed door, speaking only to himself in the silence.

“Not for this reason.”

****

“Idiot.” Jason had said to him, pulling him aside after the schedule was jacked up enough for them to get away with bailing on autographs. “This is because of the surgery, right? I told you, you should’ve told him.”

“I really don’t need an ‘I told you so’ right now, Jason.”

Jensen flopped back on the bed in his hotel room, hanging up his cell phone when Jared’s went straight to voicemail again. He’d already stood outside Jared’s room and pounded on the door until he lost track of the time, his pleas going unanswered. He’d already called the phone in Jared’s room until Jared issued a complaint to the front desk and he was ordered to stop. Once this was over, he’d definitely have to make fun of Jared for being such a goddamn girl. He smirked, thinking of how he’d walk up to Jared and say, “You know, here I thought I was gay, but, turns out, that’s not the case!”

His smirk faded quickly, and he turned over on his side on the bed, curling up alone. He had to admit that he’d earned the “I told you so” at this point. On some level, he’d always known that having the surgery behind Jared’s back would piss him off. And he had to admit to hating himself a little for doing it anyway. Maybe Jared was right about him being a pussy. Maybe it was some stupid self-validation thing, proving that he could do whatever the fuck he wanted, and fucking up his best relationship in the process. Maybe it was just a childish reaction to Jared’s negative thoughts on something he’d wanted so badly. Whatever it was, he wished he could take it back now. Nothing was worth putting that look on Jared’s face that Jensen could still picture every time he closed his eyes: “You lied to me.”

That was it. Jensen had been the first to bring lies into their relationship. Up until now, nothing of the sort had occurred. He sighed, burying his face in a pillow, briefly wondering if he could suffocate himself this way. Over a month away from Jared, and now they still weren’t together. The bed felt much too big in that moment, and Jensen knew he wouldn’t be sleeping at all that night.

****

Jared turned, tossing the paper towel he’d used to dry his hands into the waste basket, and moved to leave the bathroom and get back to dinner. He was caught off guard by the door opening, Jason’s hand on his chest pressing him back into the room.

“Dude, wha-”

“We need to talk,” Jason said, cutting him off and getting right to the point. “This thing with you and Jensen? It’s ridiculous.” Jared straightened up, jaw set.

“We should get back to dinner.”

“No.” Jason shook his head. “Not until you get some sense talked into you.” Jason leaned back against the door, blocking Jared’s way and crossing his arms over his chest. “You know, I shouldn’t even have to do this? Even the girls are wondering how you can manage to stay so catty for so long.”

“He lied to me,” Jared said shortly, feeling his face flush in both embarrassment and anger.

“So?” Jason challenged. “What, you’ve never been lied to before?”

“It’s not that, I-”

“These things happen, Jared,” Jason cut him off again, and Jared tensed, fists clenching. “Now, I’m not saying Jensen hasn’t been an idiot, because he has. I’ve told him so. But he’s at least tried to talk to you and apologize. And you’ve been giving him the silent treatment like a little kid. And anybody can see you still love each other. You go out and do these convention events together, and you get along fine.” Jason gave him a pointed look. “And it isn’t because you’re actors. I can tell. You can’t fake the chemistry you guys have. You go out there, you get on stage, have pictures taken, and it’s too easy for you two to just fall in together. And then you leave, you get off stage, and suddenly you remember that you were lied to, and you go back to being an ass about it.” Jared deflated a bit, nails no longer digging into his palms. “Now, I’m not one to get in the middle of stuff like this. But I think it’s time you got over yourself. Shit, man, I’m married, I would know. Being in love isn’t always a cakewalk. You should know that, too.”

“I do,” Jared admitted quietly, realizing something about himself in that moment. “I think maybe that’s the problem. It’s just…after what happened with Sandy…I thought…”

“Okay,” Jason pushed away from the door. “We’re friends now, right?” Jared nodded. “And as your friend, I understand that you’ve been hurt before, and that you’re afraid of it happening again. But as Jensen’s friend?” Jason stepped forward, and Jared was surprised to find himself stepping back a bit, seeing the threat in Jason’s eyes. “If you pin all that on him for just one stupid mistake…” He trailed off, shaking his head and sighing, and Jared already felt guilt creeping up in his chest at what Jason was saying. “He’s not her, Jared. And she’s not him. Jensen’s supposed to get a fresh start. And if you’re still crying over your past and judging him by that, then that isn’t fair to him.”

“I’m not,” Jared said, looking away and swallowing. “I mean…I wasn’t, and then this happened, and I guess it just came back to me.” He turned back to Jason when he felt a hand on his shoulder.

“And that’s okay. But let it go, now. It’s over. Jensen messed up. He made a mistake, and as I understand it, it’s pretty much the very first one he’s made in all the years he’s known you. Just because your relationship with him has been perfect up until now, doesn’t mean you can always expect it to be that way. Give him a break. You’ve left him in his own mess long enough.” Jason smiled a little, and Jared couldn’t bring himself to return it, heart twisting in his chest. “He didn’t do anything bad behind your back. He just did something he wanted to do. And if you’d talk to him about it, you’d fine out he’s pretty happy with the results.”

“Damn,” Jared cursed, sighing deeply. “I guess I’m really showing up our age difference now, huh?”

“You are a young’un,” Jason said, grinning, and Jared rolled his eyes. “But it’s not like you ever have before,” he said more seriously. “Everybody has their moments. You’re entitled to one, too.”

****

Jensen sat on the edge of his bed, leaning forward, head in his hands. He was torn between being upset and being angry that Jared was still letting this go on. He was thirty-one, for Christ’s sake. This kind of drama should’ve been years behind him by now. The tentative knock on the door was unexpected, and he stood up slowly to answer it, surprised to see Jared on the other side.

“Can I come in?” Jensen opened the door wider and Jared stood back and gestured awkwardly to the luggage he’d brought with him. “Can I stay?”

The relief that flooded his system was a welcome reprieve from the feelings that had been stirring in his body since the day before, and he stood back, giving Jared room to enter, closing the door behind him. He turned to look at Jared, and his eyes caught on the alarm clock by the bed. He groaned inwardly, throwing an apologetic glance Jared’s way.

“I have to leave for Jason’s concert,” he said, absently scratching at the back of his neck. “I don’t know if you were still planning on going, or…”

“I’m not,” Jared said, and Jensen didn’t quite understand the knowing look Jared was giving him. “And neither are you.”

“What?” Jensen narrowed his eyes, unsure of where this was going. “What are you talking about?” Jared sighed, and Jensen could see him working through the words in his head as he paraphrased.

“Jason said that we need to ‘settle this childish dispute,’ and that if he sees either one of us at his concert tonight, he’ll send every fangirl in the room after us and force us to sing up on stage.”

“…Oh,” Jensen said dumbly, wondering when the hell Jason had time to threaten Jared.

“Yeah,” Jared said. “‘Oh.’”

“But the girls,” Jensen remembered, pulling his phone out of his pocket. “We’re supposed to go with them.”

“Nope.” Jared shook his head. “The girls are backing him up; said they’d team up and toss us into the crowd if they saw us there.”

“Okay…” Jensen drawled, awkwardly shoving his phone back in his pocket.

Silence settled over them, and he watched Jared bite his lip and lower his head, hair falling into his face. He took in the dejected slump of Jared’s shoulders, and he suddenly realized that Jared wasn’t just hurt or upset, but tired. Jetlag probably didn’t help the situation, and, if Jared was anything like him, he probably hadn’t slept the night before, either.

“Jensen, I’m sorry,” Jared said, lifting his head. Jensen couldn’t stand the sorrow and guilt he saw in Jared’s wide, pleading eyes. “I overreacted. I said some terrible things that I shouldn’t have. And then I acted like a fucking five-year-old about it.” He laughed without humor. “I guess I’m kind of a dick, huh?”

“You sure are,” Jensen said, smiling and moving to stand in front of Jared. “But, I lied to you. I was a dick, too. I’d say we’re pretty even.”

“Yeah,” Jared said, relief showing beneath the exhaustion, and smiled back at him playfully. “Yeah, but purgery?” His gaze dropped, and Jensen followed it, Jared’s fingers suddenly busying themselves with the buttons on his shirt. “I don’t know, Jen. I think you still might have to serve for that.”

“Really?” Jensen asked, glancing up at Jared as each button popped open one by one. “What’s my sentence?”

Jared didn’t answer, just lowered his head and captured Jensen’s lips with his own, soft pressure, tongue flicking over them for a quick taste before pulling back again. Jensen felt his temperature rise at the simple touch, the two of them having been apart for so long. He stood and let Jared slip the button-down off his shoulders, lifting his arms so Jared could pull off the shirt that had been underneath. He closed his eyes briefly as Jared’s fingertips ran down his chest, over his nipples and abs, coming to rest on his belt buckle, and he opened his eyes again, amused.

“So you’re just gonna take my clothes off, is that it?” he asked, both of them laughing, Jared letting his head fall forward to rest on his shoulder.

“Yeah.”

“Yeah?” His belt fell open, and Jared turned his face into his neck, breathing in deeply, hands moving as his arms encircled Jensen’s torso, and he understood; he understood the need for the touch, the need to just feel, Jared’s tired body draping over his, and Jensen pressed a kiss to Jared’s clothed shoulder. “How ‘bout we get you into bed, huh?”

He pushed and Jared followed silently, allowing him to guide him towards the bed and press him back down onto it. He made quick work of the buttons on Jared’s shirt, pulling it off to reveal bare skin underneath. He felt his body flush with heat, but moved on, shoving Jared back so that he’d lay back on the bed, pulling off his shoes, his jeans. He licked his lips when he pulled Jared’s boxers off, finding him half hard. His own dick twitched in interest, and he shucked the rest of his clothes, Jared reaching for him and pulling him onto the bed when he was completely naked. They rolled, warm skin on warm skin, both of them moaning in relief with the contact. They faced each other on their sides, Jared pulling him in for a kiss, deeper this time, tongue lazily thrusting into his mouth as he threw a leg over Jensen’s body, as if he wanted them to just melt together, and Jensen hummed his agreement, trying desperately to eliminate any space between them.

“Jensen,” Jared breathed, the kiss breaking as they tugged and pulled at each other, trying to fit together in every way possible. “Jen…God, just need to feel you.”

“Mmm,” was all Jensen could manage, and he rolled them over, blanketing Jared with his body, the two of them slotting together just perfectly as he rutted against him. Jared bucked, hardness against hardness, and Jensen kissed and licked at his neck before lifting his head, looking down into dark, lustful eyes. The heated expression in them subsided a bit, and Jared reached a hand up to stroke down Jensen’s face, past his left eye.

“Are you hurt?” he asked, and Jensen could see that he was focused on the bloody spot left on his eye from the surgery. He grabbed Jared’s hand and kissed it, shaking his head.

“No. They didn’t hurt me. It doesn’t hurt. Should be gone soon.” Jared nodded a bit, and Jensen leaned down to kiss him, stealing his breath away and demanding entrance into his mouth, tongue sweeping in when he opened up. Jared’s hand found its way into his hair and tugged, and Jensen felt Jared smile against his mouth between kisses.

“You let your hair grow,” Jared said when they broke apart, as if he’d just noticed. “I like it.” Jensen just smiled and ground his hips down against Jared’s, making him groan and arch, eyes falling closed. “Fuck,” Jared cursed. “Jensen…I need you.”

“Yeah?” Jensen leaned down, swirling his tongue over Jared’s earlobe, pulling it into his mouth and biting. “What do you need?”

“Fuck me,” Jared begged, spreading his legs, giving Jensen more room to fit between them. “Please.” Jensen buried his face in Jared’s neck, dick heavy and throbbing between his legs.

“Gonna make you feel good,” he whispered against sweaty skin, pressing a soft kiss against it. “Promise.”

He reached down over the bed for his pants, fumbling with the pockets and the contents until he found what he was looking for, slicking his fingers and rubbing the pad of one of them over Jared’s entrance. Jared pressed back against it almost immediately, pre-come spilling from his dick. Jensen pressed forward, stroking his way inside, moving gently in and out, feeling Jared begin to open up around him.

“Just do it,” Jared breathed, and Jensen snapped his attention to Jared’s face, saw the look of desperation there. “Please. I’m ready, just…” He pushed back on Jensen’s finger again. “Just do it. Fuck me.”

“Jared,” Jensen shook his head, “It’s not enough.” Jared shifted on the bed, whining slightly.

“Wanna feel you opening me up. Not your fingers.” Jensen gripped himself and closed his eyes, taking a deep breath.

“Jared, I’ll hurt you.”

“No,” Jared said, shaking his head feverishly. “No, you won’t. God, Jensen, please, just give me your dick.”

Jensen cursed under his breath, hurriedly pushing two fingers deep into Jared’s body before pulling them out and squirting lube over his dick, stroking himself and settling between Jared’s legs. Jared lifted his knees, tilted his hips up to give Jensen better access, and Jensen groaned as the head of his dick brushed up against the tight hole, forcing it open as he pressed forward. He was on top of Jared, braced on his elbows over his body, Jared’s nails digging into his shoulders. He pushed until the head was enveloped in impossibly tight heat, breathing heavily.

“Jared? Are you okay?”

“Just…” Jensen waited, seeing the tension in Jared’s face, feeling him working to relax each muscle in his body, eventually sighing and breathing out, “More.”

He worked himself in slowly, gentle pressure enough to work through the bit of preparation he’d given Jared, stopping himself whenever he knew Jared needed him to. It was torturous, his body vibrating with the need to just slam in, but he worked against it, all the while soothing Jared and pressing soft kisses over sweaty skin. He almost felt victorious when he finally slid home, locked in tight, balls flush against the smooth skin of Jared’s ass, and he couldn’t help the sudden rush of words that fell from his lips.

“Oh, God, I missed you, Jared. Missed you so much, I’m sorry…so sorry.” He held still for a moment, feeling his pulse pounding throughout the entire length of his body, all the way down deep inside of Jared. He looked down into his lover’s face and stroked over his cheek gently, Jared’s eyes still squeezed shut, unsure if he was in any pain, the mere thought giving him the strength to hold back. “I can stop.” Jared suddenly came to life beneath him, choking out a strained laugh and turning his face into the palm of his hand, voice shaky with need when he spoke.

“Stop, and I’ll kill you.” His eyelids rose to half-mast, and he moved a hand to the back of Jensen’s head, pulling him down for a kiss, sucking Jensen’s full bottom lip into his mouth before pulling away and groaning out, “Move.”

Jensen watched Jared’s face as he pulled back slowly, watched his lips fall open in a gasp, his eyes darken with lust; watched them flutter closed again in pleasure when he shoved back in, both of them moaning and sighing, finally connected after what seemed like a lifetime apart.

“More,” Jared demanded again, already panting. “More.”

Jensen groaned and pulled back to thrust in again, hard, feeling himself beginning to lose control. It felt like a gift when Jared grunted out “faster,” and Jensen’s hips snapped in on the next thrust, making Jared shiver with pleasure. His arms moved beneath Jared’s body, holding him close as he fucked in deep, desperate for more contact, trying to be closer in every possible way, Jared moaning his agreement, legs wrapping around him, heels pressing against his ass to coax him in further, arms around his back, hands gripping his shoulders. He let his head fall into the crook of Jared’s neck, breathing in his scent, feeling him everywhere, listening to the sounds he forced from his throat. He worked himself into a frenzy, back bowing, balls slapping against Jared’s ass on every push in, and suddenly he was bringing his arms back, holding himself up again. His next thrusts came harder, body moving frantically, forcing Jared’s body up further on the bed, Jared clawing at him and crying out with each push. He moved with Jared, panting and growling and pushing up, up, up, rubbing his face into Jared’s skin, driven by need and hunger, trying to force himself in and feeling like he just couldn’t get deep enough, wanting to crawl inside Jared’s hot, willing body and never leave.

“Jesus Christ, Jensen,” Jared managed between moans, voice sounding raw.

“Jared,” Jensen breathed, heart pounding in his chest, just trying to get closer, deeper, wanting more, Jared pushing down and pulling him in, hands all over his body. He pushed a hand between them, grabbing for Jared’s dick, and looked up to see Jared’s eyes rolling back in his head, lids fluttering closed, body nearly melting into the mattress. He stroked in time with his thrusts, bending to lick and tease Jared’s nipple with his teeth, and Jared came apart beneath him, shaking and convulsing, spilling over Jensen’s fingers. “Fuck, Jared,” Jensen repeated, shoving in a few more times, his muscles going impossibly tense as he came, hot spurts deep inside, jerking and moaning until it was over, slowly relaxing and collapsing on top of Jared.

“Wow,” Jared huffed out on the first deep breath he was able to take.

“Mmm,” Jensen grunted, and Jared laughed.

“Man, we need to fight more often. People weren’t kidding about make-up sex.”

“No.” Jensen pulled out with a groan and rolled over onto his back next to Jared, trying to catch his breath. “No. No more fighting. It’s been too fucking long.” Jared cuddled up close, ignoring the mess on his skin.

“Yeah, it has.” He kissed Jensen’s chest, laying his head down over his heart.

“Won’t lie to you again,” Jensen said, running his fingers through Jared’s hair. “I promise.”

****

Jared slowly drifted out from under the haze of sleep, shifting a bit in Jensen’s arms and feeling Jensen move with him. He lay there, listening to Jensen’s heartbeat, feeling him breathe, and then opened his eyes, realizing Jensen wasn’t asleep. He looked up, surprised to find Jensen staring back at him.

“You’re awake,” he commented. Jensen was silent for a moment, just staring at him, eventually leaning in for a soft kiss.

“You wanna know something?”

“Sure.”

“Don’t make fun of me for this,” Jensen said, and Jared smiled. There was a part of him that loved these quiet moments; moments when Jensen held him in strong arms while he opened himself up at the same time, easy and vulnerable. “But this…This is something I’ve been waiting for, for a long time.”

“What is?” Jared asked, his smile fading as he took in the emotion in Jensen’s eyes.

“I just woke up,” Jensen explained, “And I saw you. I really saw you. Still see you now. And you’re not blurry or fuzzy around the edges. You’re…there. Clear. It’s just…for the first time, I can wake up and look at you, watch you sleep, and not have to put my glasses on to really see you. You don’t know what that’s like for me. I can’t even explain it.” His voice dropped lower as he looked away, Jared almost straining to hear him. “It’s…It’s everything I’ve ever wanted.”

“Jensen,” Jared whispered, warmth spreading in his chest, “I don’t even know what to say.”

“You don’t have to say anythi-” Jared cut Jensen off with a kiss, closing his eyes and licking into Jensen’s mouth, caressing Jensen’s tongue with his, slow and smooth.

“I love you,” he said, pulling away. “And this is the best surprise anyone’s ever given me.” He smiled. “I think it was worth the fight. Just makes it that much sweeter.”

“Yeah,” Jensen said, pulling Jared close and nuzzling his cheek. “I guess you’re right. I love you, too.”

****

Jensen opened the door just a crack when Jason knocked, grinning slyly and poking his head through, standing stark naked behind it. Jason raised an eyebrow at him.

“You two alright?”

“We’re fine, Jason,” Jared interjected, coming up behind Jensen, fingers stroking his sides as he poked his head out, too, the same cheeky smile lighting up his face as he purposely licked a stripe up the side of Jensen’s neck. “We’re just fine.”

“Okay,” Jason stepped back into the hallway, eyes averted, hands held up high. “A little too much information, but I’m glad to hear it.” Jensen watched as Jason walked away, feeling Jared giggling behind him, and then turned his head for a quick kiss.

“You’re so bad.” Jared laughed and nuzzled the soft hair at the nape of Jensen’s neck.

“You’re the one who answered the door naked.”
