“Alright, halftime’s over!” Jensen shouted, throwing his arms out and motioning for everybody to get back on the field. “Let’s do this!”

“Jensen!” Josh called, running over and frowning. Jensen paused, wondering what had gone wrong. “I’m concerned that you’re gonna throw the game because your lover is on the opposing team.”

“Shut up!” Jensen laughed, shoving at Josh and receiving a playful punch on his arm in return.

The field was his family’s backyard, and it was Ackles versus Padalecki, he and Jared quarterbacking for their teams. They had just four on each side. Jared had his brother, sister, and sister-in-law, and Jensen had Josh, Ally, and Mackenzie. Not for the first time, Logan came trotting out onto the field, his little legs carrying him over to Josh.

“Daddy, I wanna play!”

“Sorry, squirt,” Josh said, ruffling Logan’s hair. “You can’t this time. You might get hurt.” Logan pouted and immediately turned to Jensen, his eyes bright and hopeful, and Josh laughed. “Yeah, he knows who to turn to when he wants something.” Jensen smiled and took a knee so that he could be eye level with Logan.

“Sorry, buddy,” he said, and he fought against taking those words back when the kid pouted again. He hated refusing Logan anything. “But I’m gonna have to agree with your dad on this one, alright?” Logan nodded, looking dejected, and Jensen couldn’t stand it. “Hey, come on.” He nudged him a bit, trying to catch his eye again. “You’re not mad at me, are you?”

“No,” Logan said, his eyes going wide as he shook his head and wrapped his arms around Jensen’s neck for a hug.

“That’s my boy,” Jensen said, giving Logan a squeeze before pulling back and smiling at him. “You keep score, huh? And cheer real loud for us, okay?” Logan nodded, beaming at him, and ran to stand off to the side. Jensen stood back up when he heard a “tsk” from behind him.

“Dammit, Ackles,” Jared said, shaking his head and folding his arms across his chest. “You and your cute little nephew trying to take the fight out of our team.” He glared at Jensen, narrowing his eyes and letting his nostrils flare out. “I’m not letting you win, you know.” Jensen stepped up close to him, getting in his face, and he grinned when he noticed the slight hitch in Jared’s breath.

“Well, that’s good,” he said quietly, “Because neither am I.” Megan walked over and smacked Jared on the arm, and he jolted and looked at her, feigning injury as he rubbed at his arm with his other hand and pouted.

“No making out on the field,” Megan chided, moving back to get into position. “We gotta win this thing!”

“I wasn’t making out,” Jared whined, still pouting as he walked away, and Jensen laughed, falling back to his side of the field.

Donna shook her head as she watched the game from the kitchen window, snorting when Jensen purposely tackled Jared in a game of touch. She watched them wrestle and call each other names as they got back up and set up with their teams again, high-fiving their siblings. Sherri stood beside her, the two of them working to prepare dinner.

“They never really grow up, do they?” Sherri asked, and Donna shook her head, laughing.

“No they don’t.”

“Good,” Sherri said, smiling at her. Then she caught sight of Jared giving Jensen the finger on the field, and she threw the window open, leaning out of it a bit. “JARED PADALECKI! There are children watching you!” Jared smiled sheepishly, having the decency to look embarrassed and apologize to Josh and Ally, who just waved him off. He grinned and waved at his mom in the window, and Sherri and Donna both laughed, just catching Jensen’s amused, “Dude, you just got yelled at by your mom,” as they closed the window.

Jared grinned when Mackenzie slid her plate over towards him, happily taking it from her and dumping the food on his already five-times-emptied plate.

“You disgust me.”

Jared looked up from his food to see Jensen staring at him from across the table, the hint of a smirk on his lips.

“Aw, Jensen,” Jared scolded, sitting up a little straighter. “You shouldn’t talk like that on Thanksgiving. I’m just enjoying your mother’s delicious turkey.”

“Thank you, Jared,” Donna said, smiling at him, and he winked at Jensen. Jensen leaned forward to look at his mother at the end of the table, pointing at Jared.

“You’re not fallin’ for this, are you?”

“As a matter of fact, I am,” Donna said, sipping her wine. “Guess I should get used to it anyway, right boys?”

Jensen flushed only slightly, lowering his head for a moment before lifting it back up to look at Jared, smiling affectionately. And, as if to punctuate the moment, Logan suddenly spoke up at the table.

“Uncle Jared?” he asked, and Jared’s heart warmed, every head at the table turning towards the older of Jensen’s two little nephews. “Can you pass the mashed potatoes?”

“I sure can, kid,” Jared said, unable to keep from grinning like a fool as he lifted the bowl up and passed it down the table.

“And for our families coming together,” Jerry said, finishing his toast. It was probably the sixth one of the day, but nobody seemed to care. It was a holiday, a happy day, people toasting things left and right, saying what they were thankful for.

“Thanks, Dad,” Jared said, his dimples showing as he clinked their glasses together.

“You lost,” Jensen teased, rubbing his nose against Jared’s as they settled in next to each other in bed.

“Home field advantage,” Jared replied, wrapping Jensen up in his arms. “Plus you had that cute little kid rooting for you. Wasn’t fair.”

“Was so,” Jensen said, pinching Jared’s side. He sighed, curling into Jared and closing his eyes. “Too much turkey. Too much wine.”

“Mmm.” Jared smiled and closed his eyes, too, warm and full and content. “Know the feeling.”

“I’m glad you came,” Jensen murmured against Jared’s skin. “I’m glad your family came. Was nice.”

“Best Thanksgiving ever,” Jared agreed, moving back to lean down and kiss Jensen on the lips. Jensen’s eyes opened slightly to look at him, and he smiled. “But we have more to come.” Jensen grinned and pushed him away.

“Sap.”

Jared laughed, and then Jensen was rolling on top of him, all warmth and happiness. They stared at each other for a moment, and then Jensen leaned down to kiss him, slow and lazy, hints of wine still there on his tongue as it slipped into his mouth and along his own.

“Mmm.” Jensen broke the kiss just as it started to get more heated, letting his head fall into the crook of Jared’s neck. “If we weren’t in my parents’ house right now…”

“It’s your room,” Jared joked, poking Jensen in the ribs and making him squirm. “Why shouldn’t you be allowed to have a little Thanksgiving sex?”

“Wouldn’t wanna scar that cute little kid, now, would we?” Jensen asked, lifting his head and kissing Jared’s lips again before rolling off of him.

“Of course not,” Jared chuckled, stretching and yawning, happy enough to just end the night with Jensen next to him in bed. He spooned up behind him, throwing an arm over him.

“Happy Thanksgiving,” he whispered, kissing the back of Jensen’s neck, and Jensen reached up for the hand thrown over him, squeezing it.

“Happy Thanksgiving.”
