I can just as easily attribute it to being here and in your proximity, Prince Dastan. I certainly can't ignore your snoring, which can be heard from down the hall.

The safety of my city. And the completion of my duty. Both are more important to me than marriage.

[Granted, it would be nice to have someone she loved in her life, but she was a Princess, she had other responsibilities. Went with the territory.]

Most countries share the same sentiment; we enjoy our independence. There are times though when we can't help it.
