Non-babyshower thing!

Oh man! I just mailed the cards and Elaine pointed out that we have a pretty big error there:
======================================================
It's on SATURDAY the 22nd, NOT Sunday. I'm feeling a bit sheepish.
======================================================

So, we decided to do a baby shower. But, I wasn't sure if guys are even supposed to go to these things. I scratched my head. Surely I should be there no? No clue. Never been to one before. So we decided to do a party that serves as a baby shower, a house tour, and a general get-together. A lot of events rolled into one. I'll save the work bee for next time ;).

Amy has been awesome helping us pull this thing together! Thanks Amy!

Why Canton? Hey, we know it's super far off, I do apologize for that. Some invitations are traveling pretty far out. I have a sister in Raleigh, and some friends as far out as Australia. We didn't want to burden anyone with having to host our shindig, we were really struggling with that guilt, and felt that if we had it here we could shoulder the bulk of that work ourselves. By doing so, we really regret if it's put anyone out, and I will certainly be happy to do any driving to accommodate you guys. Let us know!

Look at that link man! It's huge. Not sure it will fit on the card.

So wow, why Elgin? (El - jin)
You know how it goes; you've got two super powers, each who have veto power. Perfectly reasonable names get vetoed, can you believe that? We finally settled on Elgin. It's a name with a bit of Gaelic charm, which pairs quite well with some very close Irish roots for Elaine. Elgin means "little Ireland", but also "high-minded." The name seems to fit here definitely, and it was an instant hit. Since then, we've passed a few road signs indicating "town of Elgin, 12 miles". Nice to see it's not a totally obscure name. Middle name? Nope. No middle name at all. I like it as a statement in itself. But who knows, one day he can choose his own middle name and no one will be any wiser for it.

Our House-
"-is a very very fine house. With two groundhogs in the yard, life used to be so hard..." Nah seriously, it's certainly in transition. We've done a lot! The bedrooms have really came a long way. A major effort is underway in the kitchen, as well as setting up a top shelf water filter system, and fighting back the ever rampant backyard. I try to do a little bit every day. Not sure how much we'll have done by when we're expecting yawl. Bear with us <3.

The Road is long...
Kinda. Kinder Rd is off Cold Creek. It's at the base of Cold Mountain (yep, same mountain from that movie.) It's not really in Canton, its a bit south of there. Kinder Ln is a narrow one lane road that is a bit steep and hard to see around. Occasionally you find yourself coming out while someone is coming in. We try to be courteous and back out for the other person, depending on whoever's came the farthest. With some more traffic on the road on this day than normal, that's something you should be aware of, so take it slow, and be courteous :). There's perhaps five houses on our road.
We've got about 4 acres here, so parking should be no issue at all

Not totally sure about food stuffs yet, definitely will have a fire going for marshmellows and hotdogs.

We'll see!
