Greg was on his way out to grab some lunch. There was a bit of a lag in the evidence in the stripper case and he needed a break to clear his head. He rides the elevator down, lost in his own thoughts, looking at his feet without actually seeing them. He hears the ding registering that he's arrived at the lobby and looks up as the doors open only to be confronted with none other than Timothy Speedle.
The absolute last person he needs to see.
He gives him a wary look, really not in the mood to be made to feel like shit, which is inevitably what happens when he's within ten feet of Speedle these days. He quickly masks the combination of hurt, irritation and sadness that cross his face and smiles, nods politely and moves to walk by him.
Timmy tugs on the leash, and Brooklyn sits down, waiting patiently for the elevator. Once it opens Tim's reaction is.. nothing. He just stands there, glancing at Greg and he notices the smile but it doesn't reach his eyes.
Then Greg is moving before Tim can even take a breath. At first he does nothing but then he clutches tight on the leash, taking in a slow breath before exhaling out.
"I'm sorry." His tone is quiet but firm and he's staring at Greg's back.
Greg freezes when Tim speaks, thinking he certainly must have heard him wrong. He turns slowly to face him, brow furrowed in confusion. "Sorry?" he asks. "For what?" Greg tries to keep the bitterness from his voice, but fails miserably. Words don't mean much to him when it comes to Speed since he's always changing his mind anyways.
Greg just turns to face him and Timmy's eyes narrow. Greg wasn't making this easy on him. And he doesn't apologize twice. So he just stands there then shrugs. "For a lot of things I suppose." He states quietly, looking away from him. He sighs. Maybe they just couldn't get along anymore.
