Tim brought home a Critical Thinking worksheet this evening, which really got us thinking...

Could it be bec he didn't quite understand the questions?

On the contrary, I think he's rather good in critical thinking.

Q1. She is a friendly girl (postman smiles at her) who enjoys letter-writing.

thought your answer for Q2 is very good already.

*piangz* P1 standard so "deep" already? i am so not ready for the school system here!

Hmmm...Your answer for Q1 is quite good esp the part "who enjoys letter-writing"...I din't think of that!

You won't believe what our children are made to go through these days!!!

These open-ended questions actually seem quite tricky considering that the kids aren't given much info to begin wtih.

Oh, and I forgot to answer the questions. Trying to think like a student in P1....

Lilli is a polite girl.
The letters must be sorted out because they are all jumbled up in the bag.

I thought of polite/courteous girl too, but Tim wasn't convinced!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

That's what "critical thinking" is all about. No longer are they given comprehension that you can find the answers from the para. They are now to infer from the stories!

I am getting more stress up reading what Tim is going through for Pri 1. Very worried for Xander as this mummy do not have much brain power to go through this type of question. So 'cheem'-leh for Pri 1.

Question 1 is very difficult. Not even sure which area they are looking for.
"caring" - because she writes to her cousin.
"polite" - because she said hello to the postman.

Exactly. I did not ask him to change his answer for Q1. Let's see what it comes back as, i.e. correct or wrong.
