All I want (and expected all along) is for people to stop assuming I'm something that I'm not.
Well, the fact that you applied to schools of this caliber (Columbia, Harvard) sort of implies that you yourself might've thought you could've been something you weren't. :/

I agree with Danica.
Your post reads as if you yourself must have known when you applied to schools like Columbia and Harvard that you weren't going to get in, and that it was the expectations of other people that led you into your current circumstance.

Columbia and Harvard were reaches, no shit. I applied to them under the pretense that there existed a chance that I might get in. If I felt there was no way in hell I would have gotten in, then I wouldn't have applied. I am in no way blaming the "expectations of other people" for me not getting into these colleges. After all, where's the logic in that? I didn't apply to these schools for the sole purpose of getting rejected and being able to rub it in there faces afterward as if to say, "HA! told you so, assholes." I know you're probably thinking, "but that's what you did..." But that wasn't the point. I blatantly laid out those results so as to deflate those "expectations" that I felt had been blown out of proportion, especially upon hearing that some people are going around saying that I did get into Harvard or etc. Nevertheless, it's that whole idea of "psh, it's tim, of course he got in" or "you didn't get in?! OH NOSE THAT MEANS I DIDN'T GET IN FO SHO" that gets to me. That was the point of the entry, college was just a kicker.

In that case, why did you even apply?
