and one of the specialties was chicken & waffles. She said that it came from wanting food after performances, which usually did not end until 1:00 am. By that point, you don't know if you want dinner or breakfast, so she & the boys in the band would order both.
It sounds like you enjoyed this, "musicians' delicacy".
