I've discovered that a broken hip isn't necessarily a bad thing. Not that it becomes necessarily good by some default inversion, but I'm coming to realize more and more that things I've traditionally assigned with labels of "good" and "bad" aren't exactly, or necessarily, or at all. It's like you're in another version of my head and my family. The details are slightly different but the feelings are the same. Wishing you not-necessarily-bad, and even good, outcomes.

Nursing homes aren't always the worst things ever, as long as someone visits often. (Family involvement always equals better care.) My grandma's lived 4 or 5 more years than we might have expected, she's made friends, had interesting things to do. It's only been in the last several months that she's really deteriorated, but considering she's 90 and has Alzheimer's, that's not so surprising.
