Being a grown-up bites.

Being an adult means having to face the very bad things in life head on, and that sucks. For the past 3 hours, I've been on the phone dealing with another rash of identity theft fraud. I had some identification stolen in 12/03, and immediately had my bank account drained and several accounts opened up in my name. Long story short, I spent an ( Read more... )

Wow, I'm sorry that's harsh. I wish you luck with both the second wave and Sprint. ...No killing anyone, no matter what. :P

Ugh....my parents had their credit stolen this week too. I wish the card companies would actively pursue the perpetrators. As it is, they'll fix your accounts after a whole lot of hassle, but then they don't even try to find out who did it or put them in jail. So I'm sure the perps just move on to another victim. It's getting bad! Almost everyone I know has had their identity used in some way.

Great news about school. Good luck with that. I wish I could join you. :( It would be fun to go back to school.

That's too bad about your parents. Luckily mine wasn't my own credit card, that's even harder to battle. I wish you could join me too, I feel like a little kid going to school for the first time. It's a little scary.

I'm sorry to hear you've had to deal with that shiznitz.

Depending on the total "liability" (amount) you might consider taking Sprint to small claims court. (Did this "transaction" happen in Utah?) I'm not 100% sure that applies in this situation... but it's worth looking into. If you'd like I'll let you know everything I know about small claims court. I'm no expert, but I have some experience with it. (I may even be able to help you brainstorm ways in which you might use the court in this instance.)

Your other news is exciting. Very, very cool.

I'm pretty sure it's out of this jurisdiction, because they most likely applied on the internet. However, I may consider bringing a civil suit on the guy this time if they catch him. They did catch a few people last year, and I got a notice that the one got out of jail last month. Now my credit's being messed with again. Coincidence? I don't think so, this guy wasn't too bright the first time. If I do need help with court, I'll definitely get your help. Thanks! How was your trip?

The 'trip' was pretty fun.

I had this image, in my head, of traveling from the springtime of the year back to winter. Like, almost a time travel sort of vacation. (This is all before we left, mind you.) And that was pretty accurate, as it turned out.

We got caught in a snow storm in Montana. Don't ask me what we were doing in Montana.

My car almost ran out of gas, in the middle of a cold, harsh winter; this was at 2 a.m.; then my car got stuck in the snow. It was all downhill from there. But by the warm fire and in a real bed and everything!

Sorry to hear that...
Yeah, the system is set up to aid the criminals because it's more profitable to have you pay for what was stolen in your name than it is to waste time tracking the motherfucker doing the stealing down or just cut their losses.
Good luck, there.
