Via Second-Order Approximation... PETER JACKSON SIGNS A DEAL TO PRODUCE THE HOBBIT MOVIE!!! And a sequel. Not sure if that means they're breaking up the movie into two parts, or if they'll make events from the appendices into a sequel, but who cares? It's FINALLY more than just speculation. W00T!:-)

It seems natural, doesn't it? I can't think of anyone better to produce (or direct!) that movie.

Yeah, but for a long time PJ wasn't going to do it because the negotiations had broken down. Probably something about money or directorial control, but I don't recall off hand.

BTW, W00t is the word of the year for 2007.

I believe it was more monies due for the LoTR movies. I'm glad that seems to be behind them.

*hands Burns-ing* Excellent.

I can't tell you how much I enjoy the movies, and how much they piss off my Father-in-law who thinks the books are too important to be modified.
