A Plot Twist.

Mar 02, 2008 12:41

So remember before when I said that LJ, while a nice method for basic keeping-in-touch, is not so great for communication about the Big Things in life? Well, here's another stellar example. See, in the last week or so, my situation has altered (or rather, deteriorated) somewhat drastically, and I now have some wild and, for most of you, ( Read more... )

Wow - that is quite the plot twist. It sounds like you tried everything to make it possible to stay up there longer, but I think your heart is here. I will keep an ear out for job options. Safe journeys south!

My heart is definitely in Florida, and at the moment so is almost every person I love! It will be hard to leave, but at least there is something warm and wonderful to find at the end of the trip. :)

Thanks for being on the lookout for job potentials!

I hope that your parents change their minds, if only long enough for you to get your feet up under you. And before you head back, post your resume on https://peoplefirst.myflorida.com -- maybe there is something that suits you!

And it is much, much warmer in Florida.

It's not that my parents don't want to put me up... they actually cannot. My old room is undergoing renovations right now, and my father recently was "downsized" so they need to pinch pennies for the time being. I can couch surf if I have to, but it'll be better for all of us if I can find an alternative housing arrangement.

THANK YOU for the website tip! I shall peruse it intently tonight...

And thank you for providing some of that warmth for me in Florida! :)

Oh, whew, good -- glad to hear that all is well with you and your parents, it was hard to tell from yoru message! Well, maybe your parents would let you pay them a nominal rent to stay there and that is a win-win for everyone. Not to be a noodge. But I am anyway.

I agree, though; there's a time in everyone's lives where you just want a place of your own, no matter how small. I guess the good thing is that the rental market here is pretty good. Bad for me, good for you!

LOL, I love you for your noodge-iness! :)

I like your idea about paying a wee bit o' rent to the folks, I think it will make us all feel eaier about the situation. Still, though, I am definitely looking for places where I can escape for a weekend or a week or so at a time, just to maintain cordial relationships with the fam. You know.

I'm sorry that things didn't work out for you, but you'll be so much happier here anyway, so there is a brightside! You can always try a temp agency? I don't know how well they are doing in this economic climate, but I had good results from a temp agency on the east coast about 10 years ago. Otherwise, all the jobs I know of are archaeology jobs-no help to you I'm afraid! Good luck, happy thoughts!

Thanks, Skye. I agree that I will definitely be happier to be home, if for no other reason than to escape this damn weather! I've been a Kelly girl before, but thanks for the reminder to check out other temp places. Gave some a call yesterday, and the overall attitude is that the market is very down, but with my skill level, they said they will definitely try to find me a placement. So thanks!

Oh, and P.S. I am also excited about being around for you and the trips... I'm a highly-skilled auntie, after all! :)

Hey, that is quite a plot twist, but who knows maybe it's a twist in the right direction. You never really know, but sometimes a little bit of faith goes along way in making things A-OK. Oh, and by the way, if you need to break your trip up by bunking with me for a little bit, I'm all for it!

Loves,

Ty

Thanks, Ty. I'm working on that faith bit right now. That is, trying to remain positive that things can only get better from here. After all, who knows how this little phase of my life will pan out in the future??

Might just take you up on that bunking offer... will keep you posted on that, and thanks muchly for the offer! :)
