We owe $1750 in taxes this year.
My lovely and talented spouse said it best, "If we are paying so much to the government, it seems like we should get a better government."

Yep. Is there any possibility of reducing taxes this year by making some nice IRA deposits or next year by setting up some 401(k)s? You have to put away a lot to get a break but at least you get to keep your money.

Yeah, I mean, theoretically what could they do if you didn't pay and moved to Canada?

I'm reading Nice Girls Don't Get Rich and I've got all sorts of ideas. I'm also being much more organized about my receipts this year. And I'm planning charitable contributions which are tax deductible. I may not have any more money at the end of the year, but I'd rather it go to abortion providers and puppies than the US government.

I will definitely check out that book. Moving to Canada is tempting! I need to keep better records and saving my receipts this year. 2005 was the first year I claimed my ebay sales as income. Yikes, I have a lot to learn about running a small business!
