OK. So Dr. Horrible has been making me smile for the past 5 days. All week I have had the songs stuck in my head and I've watched it so often that my family thinks I have a problem. (I bought it on iTunes... and I watched it in line for Dark Knight last night.) So this morning I'm all psyched when the Third Act showed up on my queue. My

No, I get it. And I think it's really poignant, and I am liking it better as I get some distance from the initial kick in the stomach...
For goodness sake, season 6 of Buffy is my favorite because I love how dark it is... I think I'm just getting a little sick of Joss always killing people in the last episode- even if it was necessary for Dr. Horrible's "birth" as a true super villain.
Plus I think I needed something happy last week... and I am just a bitter human being because I didn't get it. :P

Also Nathan Fillion saying "This must be what pain feels like!" was brilliant.

That may be a little overdramatic- but... I've watched every episode of 4 of his shows now and read some of his comics and I think he really does only know how to do tragedy and it's getting a bit old.

I do agree that it is somewhat original... but I still think it's something that Joss always does. He likes to kill people to make a point... but he does it so often I was hoping that he would do something out of his comfort zone and not kill someone in the last episode of one of his shows.
I'm beginning to think that he can't do happy endings and just falls back on tragedy... and it's beginning to get just a little bit old.

It was funny, I watched the third episode with John and Conrad and Ananth-- the credits started rolling, and we were all COMPLETELY SILENT.
We were talking about the potential of this being used as a pilot for a TV show. Thoughts?

I liked the ending. When he puts on the red lab coat, with the black gloves and pulls the goggles down, really becoming Dr. Horrible, is a great sequence. He's a true mad scientist then, driven by guilt and remorse to ways of evil.
That said, I don't think there's much of anywhere to go from here. He's Dr. Horrible now, through and through, due to the tragic death of his beloved. A TV show could follow Dr. Horrible as he begins his true reign of terror? That'd be a super-hero show in reverse, concentrating on the villains. I don't know how interesting it would be.
If it were to become an actual show, I think they'd have to introduce new characters, and not center on Dr. Horrible and Captain Hammer. Those characters are very nicely resolved. Not that they wouldn't show up, but I don't think they could be the focus.

I really wanted some frankenstein-y reanimation or Superman turning back time.
Why can't he follow his other M.O. and bring someone back to life- it's not like he hasn't done it before.
And yes. SLASHY SLASHY ROBOT.
With no soul.

After a bit of waiting, I do see the need to end Dr. Horrible the way it is, but I do have to say that I still feel like I got punched in the stomach when I watched it.
It still seems to me that this is Joss' M.O. and that if I had actually been thinking, then then ending would have been really predictable in the World of Joss Whedon.
That being said, I am still so impressed by him. I would not have thought that I would have cared so much about a character in only 45 minutes. I really did feel like the character of Billy died at the end of the 3rd act in getting what he wanted.
That being said though- I really would have liked a happy ending. I'll admit it- I'm a big hopeless romantic and I really wanted to see them happy- finding a balance between ruling the world and being selfless.
The music still makes me really happy though... even the so sad last song.
