In early June I'm going to be riding my bicycle in a fundraising ride to support Bikes Not Bombs. They do some good work in providing bikes & knowhow to places that really can use them.

Off-topic comment being added to the most recent entry here:

I apologize for saying that Zen calligraphy is bourgeois.  That really wasn't what I thought I was saying; I simply assumed that your religious building, like many many others, had to be rented out to extrinsic interests in order to support itself financially.  Zen calligraphy is not bourgeois if it helps people toward spiritual centeredness, which everyone needs (except holy fools).

No offense taken. While it's fairly common at many spiritual centers, my order adheres rigorously to having retreats that are relevant towards Zen practice. No matter what the retreat is, everyone follows the monastery schedule, and everyone meditates!
