Ta for the historical backdrop! I'm a history buff myself so I love it when people incorporate old world leaders into their stories. I also am really fond of the way you portrayed Russia - it was very true to Himaruya's character. The fandom has kind of taken the idea and run with it so the Russias I see don't really fit the whole innocent/creepy image. Poor butterfly, that sounds exactly like something he'd do, all the while not knowing it was wrong ._. Peter I is one of my favorites, so it's pretty funny to imagine him running around chasing butterflies and possibly yelling angrily in Russian :3

Russia is so. Hard. To pin down. Because he's not really innocent, or naive even - he's just, kind of...got this weirdly detached and curious outlook on everything, and even though he loves messing with people he's a good kid at his core. On top of that how he should be written changes so much depending on what era it's in agh O.o But I love him so much I'll gladly wrestle with him for ages over characterization.

Anyway what I'm trying to say is thank you for the RussiApproval :D

Pfft Peter the Great and his crazy shenanigans. I mean, The All-Joking, All-Drunken Synod of Fools and Jesters?! WHAT THE HELL. 8D

Man, ain't that the truth? It's so easy to succumb to the fandom's idea of Russia - that he's this menacing, yet vulnerable character who wants to be loved but doesn't know how. It's a good archetype, and it's easy to write, but I still feel a little guilty because it's not really Russia as Himaruya intended. I mean, Russia's a little touched in the head, isn't he? Which I suppose is why he's so hard to pin down.

tl;dr = You're welcome! ^^

He definitely was an interesting character. A beard tax? Really, Peter? Although I really like how he would dress up in civilian clothes to learn shipbuilding without the nuances of the court and whatnot ^^

Okay... I'm going to sound absolutely crazy for a moment but... You are amazing... To begin with this, I'm an absolutely crazy crack person and I have the most outlandish OTP ever-- and that is The Netherlands and Russia... So when my Dutch friend messages me this story... I died...

I read it, and came back to life... simply to die again for its awesomeness... first of all, Peter the Great is a subject matter that I've been studying recently for personal interest, and this was wonderful to see in light of such acquired knowledge.. but on top of that... You depicted Russia So. Bloody. Well. I am a VERY big fan of Russia and all his complexity, and it's so very difficult finding someone who portrays his complicated nature to an understandable degree... and I really felt like I was reading about Himaruya's Russia here, not the rapetruck, vicious, mindless Russia that people tend to portray...

Long story short, thank you SO much for writing this and posting this... you've made me... SO happy...
Here... have my first born. it's all

People send my derpy stories places whut >.> *blown away*

Do you know what your friend thought of the Netherlands here? I've only written him twice (and the first barely counts) so if they (or you) have crit that'd be amazing.

Are there actually Netherlands/Russia fics?!?! I've seen an image or two but never a fic - and you know, they've actually got some history to work with, come to think of it. Hmmm.

pugqh oiagha *MASSIVE FLAIL* why thank you for the Russia praise, he's very complicated and I'm really trying to get him right in this period before I leap into any sort of Serious Business fic with him. Which means I may end up ficcing more of the Grand Embassy because Prussia and cannons is calling my name.

Lawl but I don't like kids O.o The thanks is amazing enough I proooomise :D
