the realization
The first time Draco sees his father kiss the hem of the Dark Lord's robes, he realizes this can never be him.

He is scared and alone, but he cannot stay.
He is a dragon and dragons are never chained.

It's a shot in the dark and
right at my throat
The air screams against his lungs, this is foolish and unplanned.
But he can't take the mark. He must leave tonight.

With all the love that this heart can stand
Dream of ways to throw it all away

He's haunted. They might be dead.
Nobody has ever loved him like his parents.
