And I am waiting for the maid culture to take root here :) -but I heard wfh is picking up there-considering that it takes hours in commute- it would help save time, lessen traffic and save the environment
Considering how kaam-chor AND suspiscious we Indians are 'wfh' will take time to become commonplace.
Again, in Banking - my industry; proximity to the clients and / or banking systems / data is essential. connectivity through public networks - which may be needed for wfh has its risks and costs to mitigate them.
As to maid-culture in the US - its a matter of economics as well as culture I suppose. Perhaps if you go to live near the border in Texas you could hire an illegal Mexican maid? ;-)
Haan ek point was correct- the chor and suspicious nature would need to die a quick death if WFH has to be a culture..
But then some sectors like yours will be left behind.Even here not everyone gets to work from home. Its more prevalent in Bay area, CA-and it would not be wrong if I say more prevalent in the IT industry. Even in my company a lot depends on the manager and his/her stand on it.
