“Wh-what?” Minho stuttered, not believing his ears. His eyes became focused on Taemin’s back, standing there like a statue as he waited for the boy to speak again. Taemin clutched the holes in the wired fence, squeezing his eyes shut as he took in a deep breath and then released it as he gulped. He was certainly feeling nervous, his pulse was beating through his ear drums, and he kept encouraging himself to just tell Minho the truth.
After Taemin gathered up the right words in his head, he turned around to face Minho and right at that second when he saw Minho staring at him so intensely; all the words he had replayed in his head vanished within a second. “I mean if…” Taemin said softly in a nervous voice, “If you thought Yoo Geun wasn’t my son… Then you wouldn’t have bothered to hang out with me, right?” He placed his right hand over the left side of his chest, clutching his shirt because he felt his heart squeezing.
When a few seconds have passed and Minho trying to analyze what Taemin just said, Minho began to flush pink because he was beginning to feel as if Taemin was confessing. “Are you trying to imply that you want to stay by my side?” Minho asked slowly, he began to hope that his assumption of Taemin liking him was true. The on-and-off silence was killing Minho-he just wanted Taemin to spill it out already!
Taemin nodded his head moderately as he averted his eyes down to his feet, he could feel his face burning up. “W-well, why is that?” Minho pressed on softly. He wasn’t satisfied with that reply because he wanted an ‘I like you, Minho’ kind of response. The younger boy quickly looked up at him and answered meekly, “Isn’t it obvious? I like staying by your side…”
All the blood began rushing into Minho’s face, causing him to turn red, feeling ecstatically happy, even his heart was leaping with joy. Though, Minho was still feeling a bit insecure, he wasn’t sure if Taemin meant that in a friendly way or more than a friendly way. Plus, Taemin really hasn’t shown any signs that he liked Minho, so he was feeling a bit doubtful. Ahhh, it doesn’t matter at the moment because right now, Minho knows he has at least some importance in Taemin’s heart. Minho seriously wanted to just glomp all over this cute boy standing before him but Taemin had a somewhat depressed look in his eyes, so he asked him what was wrong?
“Well, last night… Taesun-hyung said he was going to take Yoo Geun back tomorrow morning,” Taemin’s voice was starting to break. “So, Yoo Geun won’t be here anymore… And that means, we won’t have anything to do with each other anymore, right?”
All that positive happy feelings partying it up inside of Minho was flooded away with sad feelings when he heard this. “No, we’ll always see each other in school, right? And why? I mean, what happened with Taesun and Uee anyways?”
“Well, Taesun isn’t really accepted in Uee’s family because Uee’s parents are a bit angry that Taesun got her pregnant at an early age… So, Uee started living with her family and now, her grandfather will be passing away soon, so Uee thought she could use Yoo Geun to get her grandfather’s large inheritance money… When Taesun-hyung heard about that, he definitely wasn’t happy, so he wanted to take care of Yoo Geun but had to keep him hidden for awhile, so I decided that I would take care of Yoo Geun.”
I.. I see,” is all Minho could think of to say at the moment, he didn’t know what else he could say. “I guess… It won’t be too bad if Yoo Geun spends time with his dad.” Taemin slowly nodded in agreement, his head hung down.
“Well, let’s go get Yoo Geun right now and spend time together,” Minho suddenly declared, all perked up from the great idea that sprung into his head.
“Go… Where?” Taemin looked up and asked, utterly confused as he tilted his head sideways. “Class will start soon, too…?”
“Who cares, we’re going on a date!” Minho exclaimed, smiling happily as he grabbed Taemin’s wrist and dragged him along. He suddenly paused and blushed as he realized what he just said. “Wi-with Yoo Geun, that is! Since this will be our last to see him, right?”
--
“Yoo Geunnie~ Have you ever been at an amusement park before?” Taemin sweetly asked the small child who was holding his hands. Yoo Geun’s eyes were bugged out with awe and amazement at the new surroundings with his mouth slightly dropped. They were both waiting by the entrance of the kid’s amusement park while Minho was buying the wristbands to enter.
As they got in, Yoo Geun wanted to get on every single ride he could! He pulled Taemin’s hand with all his effort towards a ride that looked like a race car, moving on a track in a circle. He wanted Taemin to ride in the car with him. “I don’t think… I could fit in there…” Taemin said in a worried tone as his brows furrowed but Yoo Geun began to whine. In the end, Taemin cramped inside the little blue race vehicle with Yoo Geun, trying to not squish the little child in there, Taemin put his knees up against his chest. Minho couldn’t help but laugh at how cute Taemin looked.
When the ride began, all the cars began moving forward around the small track. Yoo Geun took charge of the steering wheel and pretended to drive it, even though it didn’t really do anything. Taemin was feeling a bit worried that he might fall out of the ride if Yoo Geun moved around so much, but Yoo Geun was just so focused at the wheel. Minho held his stomach as he tried to suppress his laughter; he was really enjoying this scene.
After the ride was over, Taemin let out a sigh of relief, Yoo Geun then dashed out to find another fun ride to get on. This time, Yoo Geun wanted to ride the plane ride, it was also two seats and it went up and down as it rotates in a circle. Yoo Geun turned around and grabbed Minho’s hand this time and dragged him in line to ride. Taemin chuckled and remarked, “It’s your turn.”
Minho picked Yoo Geun up and placed him inside the yellow, small plane. As he climbed in and closed the door, his legs were also bent and positioned in an uncomfortable angle, he tried to shift to get a better position but he accidentally bumped into Yoo Geun’s legs with his foot. Yoo Geun jerked his head at Minho and glared as he pouted, implying that Minho just hurt him. This scenario also entertained Taemin, as he snickered and watched.
The taller man apologized, patting the boy’s head, after finding a position that benefitted Yoo Geun and somewhat Minho’s (sitting with his legs open and Yoo Geun sitting in between). Once the ride was over, Yoo Geun ran to the next ride, it was one of those carousal rides. Taemin went with Yoo Geun again and the little boy picked a brown house on the outside near Minho to ride on, so Taemin lifted him up and held him, waiting for the ride to begin. Minho just watched as he leaned against the top of the fence with his arms.
He watched Taemin standing by the horse, holding Yoo Geun firmly and smiling so profoundly at the child. Minho whipped out his phone and hurriedly tried to find his camera application. He zoomed in and snapped a photo of them two. Minho looked down at his phone with the outcome of the picture and unconsciously smiled at it. A memory he’ll cherish.
Taemin and Yoo Geun waved at Minho every time they saw him when they rotated around and when the ride ended, they both rode more rides that the amusement park had with Yoo Geun, and then they decided to take a break on a bench. Taemin handed Yoo Geun an apple juice box while Minho handed him a big lollipop. Yoo Geun smiled goofily as he exclaimed while pointing the lollipop to Taemin, “umma!” and then he pointed towards Minho “appa!”
Minho and Taemin both looked at Yoo Geun, who stuck his lips onto the candy, and were shocked. The taller man couldn’t help but grin from ear to ear, while the other’s face maddened with the color red. “YES!! Our son is the cutest!!!” Minho declared, making an outburst as he smiled radiantly. Some of the bystanders and people walking passed them heard and gave them strange looks, which made Taemin feel even more embarrassed so he hid his face in his palms.
--
“I haven’t been to a kid’s amusement park in forever! Never thought it’d be so exhausting,” Minho whispered as sighed, Yoo Geun was sleeping over his shoulder. They were on their way home to Taemin’s at night.
“I’ve never been to one before, so I thought it was fun,” Taemin shared his thoughts quietly as he walked beside Minho.
“Really? Next time, I’ll take you,” Minho promised as he smiled, showing his upper pearly whites.
