gammameta asked me, quite simply, "do you like your job?" and I feel like my response would probably be a bit too long for an lj-comment, so I'm moving my thoughts, rambling and meandering as they are, to here ( Read more... )

I'm really glad! And it makes sense that you would post more about your anxieties during an anxious time than about how much you appreciate your job.

Before even getting to your passage explaining how much of a team you were, I could see how true that was from your description.

You own it. And that makes the calculus about job satisfaction completely different.

I'm sorry if I leapt to a conclusion that wasn't how you really felt.

Also you totally have marketable skills. You don't have to be an expert in anything to be a teacher. In fact, the best teachers usually aren't experts in a topic. They are topic enthusiasts. And expert teachers.

Yeah, I'm glad to read this, too. I hope there won't be a lot of changes from now on. Time to get some comfort.

And I agree with Gamma about your skills. I don't know how things work over there but here, you have to have certain certificates before you're a 'real' teacher. But... nothing is said for trainers. All they need is a passion for a certain topic and a love for teaching people something. Wanting to make a change and being able to communicate accordingly.

You have those qualities. So think about it while you're getting comfortable now. What would you be willing to tell people? Which knowledge is obvious for you but not for others? It's out there for you. I'm sure of it.

It's good to hear you being so positive about your job, it certainly makes me less worried about you now that you've explained!

I agree with Gamma and Becca, training people is something you can do regardless of certificates.
