as a former jock, I will tell you that some people get an attitude about playing shit like the slide, which albeit fun, is very traditional and they're often sick of it.
My Power-set that got the crowd going was....
Locomotion (skip to the 4th song if there are no kids) Chicken Dance (yah) Hokey Pokey (if the little kids were there Electric Slide YMCA Then this killer Temptations/4-Tops medley I had Honky Tonk Woman by Rolling Stones Then a slow song And then I'd get all into other madness.
Yeah, but they should play whatever is asked of them, seeing as how it IS their job to play what they're asked to play.
Yeah, when you do something repetetive for so long, it just gets ground into your mind. And thanks, if I feel like a-chattin' about it I'll give you a call :)
I hate DJ's that seem to be playing their music for them, rather than for - you know - the people they're being paid to entertain.
"No I wont play your favourite Roxette track because this is the first chance I've had to play my new electro-disco-punk-indie-crossover-wank!" *insert sound of DJ having his/her fingers broken*
I'm guessing you haven't shared details of your disagreement for your own reasons, but please remember that faceless people you only know on the internet are the BEST for dispensing advice - because we don't have to live with the consequences!

Yeah, I only had three drinks though. Not sure why I didn't drink more. Some DJ's do suck like that. They get paid to play certain songs, they have no say in what's played, it's their job to play what others tell them. Grr But then you get lucky (like for my sisters wedding) and you get two great guys that rock the place. I believe they were the owners too.
Thanks dude :) You're right, it's easier to say things over the internet because you don't have that person right there in front of you, not face to face. I'll let ya know :)

Sorry to hear that. If it's any consolation, your posts always make *me* feel cheery.
