I'm sitting in a Starbucks at Dufferin and Steele, taking a quick break from a hectic bout of Christmas shopping (hectic because I have been to a half-dozen places already, not because of the relaxing driving conditions). Around here it appears to be "All I Want For Christmas Is You" that plays nonstop. Good song, but...

Exactly my point! Not even the best song can stand up to the rampant overexposure that takes place in November and December!

At least you Americans have Thanksgiving to forestall the worst of it; in Canada, they start right in the day after Hallowe'en!

Don't I wish! Here too, the day after Halloween one sees Christmas decorations up. Thanksgiving isn't merchandise oriented enough to interest the mob.
