While watching the inauguration the other day, I couldn't help but be surprised that Yo-Yo Ma's, Itzhak Perlman's, Gabriella Montero's and Anthony McGill's instruments were all staying so well in tune in the cold weather.

There was something about Yo-Yo Ma having had a carbon cello made, because of the cold? I don't know the details.

It says here that he was considering using a carbon-fibre cello instead, but decided against it. The cold, über dry air would have literally cracked an antique cello.
