Two die in an early Easter morning crash

The Indiana State Police post in Indianapolis started receiving calls just before 3 a.m. Sunday morning reporting a vehicle going the wrong direction on I-465 near Allisonville Road on the eastside of Indianapolis.
The early investigation found that a red Honda was going southbound in the northbound lanes of I-465.
Police dispatchers received nearly 50 911 calls about a vehicle headed in the wrong direction.
Officers attempted to intercept the vehicle from various locations on the eastside of the city but were unable to reach the car before it struck a van head-on.
Investigators believe the driver, Nicole M. King of Noblesville, got on I-465 going the wrong way at the Allisonville Road interchange. She drove to about one mile east of the Emerson Avenue interchange when King struck a Pontiac van traveling in the northbound center lane of I-465.
Police arrived on the scene and found the two vehicles hit head on. The van was on its side and on fire.
Emergency personnel were able to get out all but one of the van's occupants.
According to investigators the people in the van were returning home from the airport. The occupants of the van were all from Howard county and were identified late Sunday afternoon by State police.
The person who died in the crash was Dorothy Edwards of Kokomo. The others who were injured and transported to Wishard Hospital in Indianapolis are Alex Stang, 21-year-old, of Kokomo who is fair condition, Benjamin C. Parker, 17-year-old, of Russiaville was treated and released, Branden Wade, 20-year-old of Kokomo is in critical condition, Courtney Wade, 17-year-old of Kokomo is in fair condition and Kristin Wade 16-year-old of Kokomo is in fair condition.
There was one fatality and the other occupants were transported to Wishard Hospital for treatment.
The eastbound lanes of I-465 were re-routed to northbound I-65 for around three hours while for investigation and clean-up of the accident scene.
It is unknown if alcohol or drugs are a factor in the crash.
